About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Dean, from London. I am a BACP Registered Counsellor providing one-to-one counselling to adults.
I'm aware that looking for a therapist online might be difficult and overwhelming. Making the decision to begin counselling for the first time, or to return to counselling, can be a big step and the thought of starting may bring up all kinds of feelings for you. My aim is to allow you, the client, to feel safe and supported by me so that you can openly share what is troubling you.
The counselling I provide is an accepting and warm space, and my clients often tell me that they feel relieved to have begun.
You can contact me with an email, a text or a phone call, and I will respond as quickly as possible (usually the same day, or within 24 hours). We can then arrange a free 10-15 minute consultation, on the phone or video call, where we can talk about what brings you to therapy, and how I can best support you. After the consultation, if you feel comfortable, we can then arrange the initial session. If you prefer, we can arrange to have the initial session without the consultation.
I have experience of working with clients from a range of ages, sexualities, ethnicities, nationalities, backgrounds and cultures. My practice is GSRD (Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversity) and LGBTQIA+ aware and inclusive. I will welcome you however you choose to self-identify in regards to your sexuality and gender.

Practice description
I am a Humanistic Counsellor, with four years of training in Existential and Gestalt therapy, and I also draw on elements of Person-centred therapy. I first took a therapy training course in 2004, and I now combine different elements of these approaches. In my experience I know that every person requires a unique approach that works for them, and I offer a flexible approach that is best suited to your needs.
I believe that given enough support (in the form of love, closeness and feeling understood), we all have the capacity to learn, grow, and become more fulfilled. Counselling can allow us to access these missing parts of ourselves. Together we can explore your thoughts, feelings, patterns of behaviour and how you feel in your body.
My first session
The initial session is your opportunity to explore what has brought you to counselling, and for you to express any hopes, concerns, or expectations you might have. It might be the first time you have had counselling, or perhaps you have been before. There is no right way or wrong way to approach counselling - I am interested to hear your experience. During the first session you can ask me any questions you might have about my way of working.
The therapeutic relationship that we build is a key part of how useful the sessions can be. I offer my clients my knowledge and experience, as well as my presence. I will support you, encourage you and challenge you speak about your difficulties so that you can face yourself, others and the world allowing you to live with more ease and more confidence.
