About me and my therapy practice
Asking for help can be a daunting step - it may be the hardest step you take when you consider counselling, couples therapy or therapeutic coaching. If you're looking for answers and thinking about asking for help, you're doing really well - don't stop now!
Everyone is different - finding the right therapist to work with you isn't always easy. I offer a free 20 minute Zoom consultation to help you explore what's going on for you, and to see whether I'm the right person to help. I will listen carefully, empathetically and compassionately to help you evaluate your past, your present, and help you develop a personalised approach to how you want your life to be. I integrate a number of recognised and established therapies to tailor an approach that suits you best, including problem solving techniques such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and TA (Transactional Analysis) to help you understand, cope and move forward with positivity.
Counselling offers an opportunity to explore and understand yourself and your environment better. What's happened in the past and what's happening for you right now? How do you communicate with the important people in your life effectively? Do you need help and support to cope with your present, or are you ready to start working towards change and building autonomy and authenticity.
Therapeutic coaching is more goal focused. What do you want to do differently and what steps are needed for things to change? What support do you need? Therapeutic coaching can help you move forwards and focus on a specific goal - big or small.
I am also a Relate trained couples therapist and currently have availability for new couples either online or in person. (Please note, I no longer work for Relate.)
Both counselling and therapeutic coaching can help with trauma, anxiety and general worry, relationship and communication problems, abuse, low self-confidence, bereavement and many other issues that may leave you feeling overwhelmed, unhappy or unfulfilled.
Practice description
My practice is pro-active but non-directive. I won't tell you what to do, or how to be - but I will actively help you explore and understand what's going on for you, support you to cope with your 'here and now' or make choices about moving forward in the best way for you.
I offer counselling, couples therapy and therapeutic coaching with a compassionate, but down-to-earth and practical approach, whatever support you need.
I work from a private, cosy and comfortable therapy room near Southampton Common, or via Zoom if you prefer. If you visit me in person there is wheel-chair access and free parking available.
I offer a free 20 minute initial consultation on Zoom to help understand how we might work together.
My first session
If we work together, I will ask you to complete some simple paperwork prior to our first paid session together, so I have a better picture of you and what you need. If you need help completing this paperwork we can do this in our first paid session together but I'm happy to allow extra free time for this.
I'm also very happy to answer any questions, please just ask.
