About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling upset or anxious about a relationship that is not working for you? You may have tried to make it better but so far nothing much has changed. Maybe you are feeling depressed and can’t seem to find a way out. Perhaps you have left a relationship and feel the need to understand what went wrong.
At some point in our lives most people will feel they need help. Working with a counsellor can help understand the causes of distress and learn techniques to help see things differently, regain control, feel stronger and happier, and move forward to a better place.
Problems are often caused by poor communication and we can look at techniques to enable you to communicate in a way that avoids conflict and promotes a greater understanding of each other.
If you are depressed or anxious I can work with you as an individual but if you are in a relationship, working with you and your partner can be very effective.
Sadly there are times when the only way forward for some couples is to separate. Together we can find ways to minimise the impact of this, particularly important where there are children involved.
Practice description
I offer a free brief telephone assessment to see if I am the right person to help you. If you feel happy to proceed, I charge £70 for a one hour session. If you have financial difficulties we can discuss fees.
I see clients face to face at my counselling room in Chesham. You can also choose to have counselling via Zoom where that is more convenient.
I worked for Samaritans for four years before becoming a relationship counsellor with Relate in 2006. In 2012 I qualified to work with couples where depression is an issue and in 2017 I trained as a family therapist.
My first session
The first session or two are likely to be centred on learning about you and what it is that is troubling you. We will work together to establish a clear focus of what you wish to change and how you can start to move forward to a better place
