About me and my therapy practice
I am a warm, empathic, qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and therapist, offering private therapy sessions for adults and couples on a long or short-term basis. I offer a caring, welcoming and confidential space for you, where you'll feel safe to discuss your challenges and difficulties. I will question and offer insight which may help you see a different perspective. You will feel listened to, respected and valued. We will work together towards the changes you want in your life and relationships.
My work is both short and long term, depending on your needs, but ultimately I want to support you to work on whatever issues you choose to bring to therapy. I have trained to work with individuals and couples, facilitating communication and dialogue in a non-judgemental way.
Couples Counselling: Couples seek counselling at all stages in their relationship. Perhaps you want to ensure that you are hearing each other and giving each other the compassion and understanding that you both want from your relationship. Perhaps you feel that your relationship is in trouble and you need support to get it back on track. However, there are also times when you have reached the point where separation feels like the right thing to do and you want help to be as constructive as possible, as you end your relationship. All these situations can be supported through couples counselling.
Practice description
Some of the issues clients come to me for are: anxiety and panic attacks; work stress; depression, sadness, and grief; low self-esteem, low self-confidence; personal growth and development; trauma; childhood attachment; loss of meaning in life; relationship difficulties - separation, divorce, affairs and betrayals.
I took my Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling, from the Psychosynthesis Trust, in London. I chose Psychosynthesis because it sees the whole person - past, present and potential for the future. It brings in breathing, meditation, mindfulness and a range of creative therapeutic approaches, alongside talking therapy.
I am passionate about and committed to professional development and life long learning. I am an assistant trainer at the Psychosynthesis Trust and attend courses, seminars and conferences throughout the year (national and international).
The latest developments in neuroscience and the understanding of why and how psychotherapy works is an area of special interest to me. I have trained on the Advanced Diploma and also Transpersonal and Integrative Couples Facilitation.
Confidentiality: Our work is absolutely confidential. I follow the BACP Ethical Framework (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and everything discussed in therapy is private and confidential. I am fully insured as a professional counsellor.
My first session
Individual therapy is £70 per session: During our first session together we will begin to talk about what is troubling you and explore your expectations of counselling. We can also talk through any concerns or anxieties you may have regarding the therapy process.
If you are comfortable and we feel that we can work with each other, we will decide how we are going to proceed. There is no obligation to continue after this session.
If we choose to continue, we will commit to working together for eight sessions and then review how our work together is going.
The sessions are 50 minutes long and are held each week at regular times. You will have a slot that is yours: same day, same time, every week. If your needs are different, please let me know and I will try to arrange sessions that are suitable.
Fundamental to the therapeutic process is the trust we build in our relationship which does take time. It's important that therapy feels as an individual choice and commitment. The work can only be done if you truly want to do it. And it will be worth it.
Couples counselling is £100 per session: For couples, in advance of our first session, both of you will be expected to complete a pre-assessment form which I will send to each of you individually by email.
Working with couples, I offer a space where each individual can be heard, concerns can be aired and you can both work towards either a healthier relationship or ultimately separate in a constructive way.
