About me and my therapy practice
My name is Rebecca D’arcy. I am a compassionate and affirming therapist dedicated to supporting individuals on their journey towards well-being. With a background in psychosynthesis counselling and depth psychotherapy, I offer a soulful and trauma-informed approach to psychotherapy, where our work together goes beyond symptom management, inviting you to explore the deeper aspects of your story, understand your patterns, and uncover a path towards renewal.
You deserve to be seen, heard, and understood. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can express your authentic self. Together, we can create a therapeutic journey that feels authentic, empowering, and deeply meaningful. Rather than focusing on "what is wrong" with you, I believe in exploring "what has happened" to you and what is troubling you in your life.
Together, we can explore the experiences that have shaped you, with a focus on understanding your wounding and how it has impacted your sense of self. I work from the premise that mental health is not about fixing what is broken, but about discovering the potential for transformation and renewal that lies within your pain and struggles.
Each person who comes for therapy is unique. Therefore, I tailor my approach to resonate with who you are. Therapy in the humanistic tradition is about the relationship that has formed between therapist and client, and this is central to how I work.
I work at depth which means that I will help you to get to the roots of the dilemmas that you are facing, which can help you to establish lasting change. Issues that I work with regularly include anxiety, workplace stress, relationship difficulties and childhood trauma. I support a wide range of clients, including professionals, creatives and LGBTQI+ community.
Practice description
I provide in-person weekly sessions at Brighton and Hove and online. I offer in-depth therapy to help you to navigate whatever difficulties you may be facing. I have daytime and early evening sessions available Monday - Thursdays.
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling. Psychosynthesis is a humanistic therapy with psychodynamic roots. I am currently undertaking an in-depth training as an Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapist under a U.K.C.P. accredited training provider, Re-Vision.
In my practice, I draw upon a wide range of skills including active imagination, IFS parts work, dream work, meditation, trauma informed therapy, self care, breath work, body centred approach, polyvagal theory and CBT tools.
Working with me can help you to increase your self-awareness and develop the ability to reflect. By learning to take a step back and observe what’s happening within, we can learn to respond rather than react. This can widen our range of choice and help us to respond differently to situations that we face and manage triggers. I can help you to regulate emotions and feelings which can lead to finding an internal sense of calm.
In addition to 1-1 therapy, I facilitate personal development workshops and therapeutic groups working with meditation, symbols, myths and archetypes.
My first session
The first session with me comprises of an initial assessment, where we explore together your background and reasons for coming for therapy. The first session has therapeutic value in itself, and will give you a sense of what I offer and how I may be able to help. After this assessment, we can make a mutual decision as to whether working together feels appropriate. I suggest making an initial commitment of 6-12 sessions, and then we can review. I offer a 15 minute telephone consultation free of charge prior to booking a first session.
