Availability
I operate flexible times during weekdays, between 8am to 8pm, by arrangement. Clients can choose to attend face-to-face sessions, online sessions, telephone sessions, or a blend of these as required.
I am presently unavailable for private clients between 9am and 4pm on Thursdays as I work for MacMillan's Cancer Support during these times.
Please contact me to discuss possible evening sessions if these are more suitable for your requirements.
I am able to offer specialised intensive sessions for those who feel they need specific support with addiction on a daily basis. All therapy sessions and timings are designed with your needs in mind and with regards to your personal circumstances.
About me and my therapy practice
I have wide experience of working within the NHS, private healthcare settings, addiction clinics / hospitals and have been in private practice over a number of years.
I offer space and time for you to consider the difficulties, dilemmas and concerns you are facing; a confidential and caring place where you can feel secure and supported - building a positive pathway forward that will last.
Our work will be highly individually determined, dependent on your needs. Our first session will help decide how we move forwards, and what you would like to achieve. Confidentiality, individual respect, support and understanding are key to our work and its success.
I hold professional postgraduate qualifications in humanistic counselling and psychotherapy and an Msc. in Addictions Psychology, from the Institute of Psychology and Neuroscience, which may be of particular interest to you if you are seeking support with alcohol, substance, or dependency concerns.
My work with Macmillan's Cancer clients involves support of clients with diagnoses of limited life-expectancies and terminal conditions, as well as relatives and close family members impacted by these. I am presently working on my research project, toward my doctorate in existential psychotherapy, which may be of particular interest for anyone who is seeking support around life-meaning, sense of purpose in their lives or a difficult experience of loss or bereavement.
I also have wide experience of working with trauma, anxiety, depression and relationship issues.
I am registered as a psychotherapist with the Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association (MUPCA) and comply with their ethical statement and codes of practice, in addition to those of the BACP and UKCP.
Practice description
I offer face-to-face, online, and telephone sessions.
Depending on what you feel most suitable, comfortable, or easiest, we can use either online sessions, telephone, face-to-face, or a blend .
Many clients have found that the convenience of web-based and telephone sessions has been really positive, though others feel the importance of having their sessions face-to-face. This choice is not fixed and is best negotiated individually and through the period of the work. The times and frequency of sessions will be negotiated between us to suit your needs and availability.
All sessions, however you choose to engage, are entirely confidential.
My first session
In our first session I will outline the way we will be working together and what outcomes you would like to achieve and the concerns you feel you need support with. This session is designed to be constructive, supportive and be the start of our work together and will be conducted at a pace you feel happy with.
I will outline all the confidentiality issues and ask you to agree to our contract of working, which is a way of safeguarding ourselves.
