About me and my therapy practice
It is completely normal to feel that you might need someone to walk alongside you while you face this fast-moving, challenging world. It is important to me that I can provide an environment of trust and openness so that you feel able to share, comfortably, whatever barriers you are finding stand between you and your good and powerful mental health.
I can provide a safe, confidential & comfortable space for you to work on whatever your particular problem might be. It could be any of the myriad obstacles which can prevent us from living interesting, fulfilling and exciting lives. I work with clients to introduce positivity, calm and personal empowerment.
I work with people of all ages over 18 years and am keen to encourage older generations to try counselling even if it might seem out of their experience or uncomfortable. Everyone is met with a lack of judgement and a desire for them to reach their potential as a person and live their best lives.
Having originally trained in Person-Centred Counselling, I have developed a great interest in other forms of counselling and therapy and can tailor your counselling experience to suit your specific needs. As part of my commitment to this work, I regularly attend further training and continuing professional development.
I consider my practice to be inclusive and welcome all clients with equality and empathy.
Practice description
My practice is in my home. My office is a light, comfortable, private room, which is wheelchair accessible.
I work face to face or online, whichever suits you best
There is off street parking and the bus stop for the Bristol bus is a 5 minute walk away. 20 mins from Bristol by bus.
As well as working in private practice, I have worked in a GP practice, for counselling charities, and for CRUSE Bereavement Care. In the past I have worked for the Alzheimer’s Society, in schools and in theatres.
I welcome people of all ages and like to encourage older people to try counselling, even if it may seem out of their comfort zone. You will find a warm and accepting environment for you to discuss whatever might be worrying you.
My first session
A first session is an opportunity for us to decide whether we will be a good "fit". I believe that a trusting relationship should be at the heart of the work between counsellor and client and this first session gives us both the opportunity to decide whether we feel comfortable with each other. First sessions also include some brief admin and paperwork, but nothing too onerous! As well as the usual contact details for you, I will ask for the name of your GP and an emergency contact. What I can help with
