About me and my therapy practice
Through Women's Time Counselling I support women of all ages, with the wide range of issues women encounter through all phases of life, such as: mental wellbeing, anxiety, physical health, relationships, home-life responsibilities, menopause, career, cultural pressures & expectations, depression, fertility, trauma, motherhood, stress, disabilities, sex & sensuality, neurodiversity, and loss.
I also support women with self-esteem, confidence, making a meaningful life and personal growth.
I provide specialist counselling for women survivors of domestic abuse, sexual abuse and violence, and women who experienced abuse in childhood. I have worked in this specialist area since 2001 in a number of roles including as a qualified Independent Domestic & Sexual Violence Advisor and as a Counsellor.
I offer specialist Counselling for women who are in the perimenopausal, menopausal or post-menopausal phases of life, this is a transition and change for mind as well as body.
I offer Counselling and support for neurodiverse women who are managing their neuro-differences, and for women who are just beginning to explore the possibilities of this for themselves. Women exploring the spectrum of neurodiversity may have or want a formally recognised diagnosis such as ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia etc, others may have self-diagnosed or may recognise themselves as hyper-thinkers, sensory-orientated or Highly Sensitive (HSP). I support women on their journey through assessment and following diagnosis. I offer you support and a safe space to be yourself and work through whatever feels right for you.
I bring together years of experience, training and qualifications as an Integrative Counsellor and Embodied Therapist to help you feel safe, understood and supported, to help you make sense of what has happened, find ways to cope, look at choices, help you feel more in control and less overwhelmed, help you feel more connected with yourself, and live more positively.
Practice description
I offer a variety of different ways for us to meet: Face-to-Face Counselling in Wiltshire, Bath and Frome, Walk & Talk Therapy outdoors in Wiltshire and Somerset, Online Video Counselling on Zoom, Phone Counselling, Email Counselling, Text Chat Counselling and I run Support Groups and Workshops in person and online.
As every woman is unique, I tailor each session for you and your needs from the following approaches:
• Person-Centred Therapy - puts you in control of what you want to focus on and how you want the counselling to develop.
• Integrative Embodied Therapy - helps you to recognise and understand your body's responses and explore how interconnected mind and body are.
• Adult Sand Tray Therapy - a way of showing how you feel and what has happened, helps access your subconscious mind, releases emotions and processes memories and feelings.
• Outdoor Walk & Talk Ecotherapy - being out in nature can help you express your thoughts and feelings, reduce anxiety, depression, fear, anger and stress, and improve mood.
• CBT - can help you gain control of overwhelming negative thoughts, and help you understand how thoughts and behaviour are connected.
• The Rewind Technique - is a safe and effective way to reduce and even remove symptoms of PTSD such as intrusive thoughts and flashbacks, you don't have to talk about the incident(s) that has traumatised you.
• Mindfulness - uses a mix of guided imagery and visualisation, breathing techniques, meditation and relaxation to help reduce stress and generate feelings of calm. It can help you feel more aware of the present moment and gain head space.
