About me and my therapy practice
Hello my name is Catherine Jennings. I have over 20 years experience of working one to one with teenagers and grown ups. I am well qualified with a degree in Psychology and MA in Counselling. I am qualified to work with ADHD. I have a special interest in attachment in romantic relationships and can explore with you whether you have an anxious, secure or avoidant attachment style that is affecting your need for closeness and intimacy or space and autonomy within your relationships with others. Having worked in education as a lecturer and counsellor I have experience working with teenagers and young adults. As a former midwife some clients seek me out too around issues relating to grief, hope and loss around fertility and pregnancy. I am very open and experienced to working with a wide range of issues and these include - transgender issues, divorce and separation, anxiety, dreams, abuse, loneliness, ageing parents, family fractures, self esteem and personal development. I would be very happy to meet with you online, telephone or face to face for an initial session to see whether we can work together to help you gain some insight, peace of mind, clarity and with hope lay some troubling issues to rest.
Practice description
I work in private practice in Wollaton, Nottingham. I work Monday to Friday and have evening appointments on Mondays and Wednesdays. Sessions last 30, 45, 60 minutes depending on what you need. I can usually offer an appointment within a week of you contacting me and we continue to work together until you feel that you would like to stop. Sessions are conducted via Zoom, WhatsApp,telephone and face to face in Wollaton.
My first session
Our first session is really an opportunity to talk through what is troubling you and see whether we want to work together. If we decide that we're a good match we'll set up the next session. Initially we would usually meet weekly and review how therapy is going after about 6 weeks. Most clients eventually move to fortnightly sessions until you feel the time is right to end. In our first session we will discuss our contract and I will explain about cancellation policy, confidentiality and how I work within the BACP's Ethical Framework.
