About me and my therapy practice

I am trained as an integrative counsellor and have eight years' experience working with clients. Life holds many challenges and changes, and sometimes we need somebody to help us make sense of them. I offer a warm, welcoming and confidential space for you to share what’s troubling you. As an integrative therapist, I draw on a range of approaches to help you to make sense of, and find solutions to, the issues you’re facing.

I use a variety of different tools, including cognitive behavioural therapy (how our thoughts affect our feelings) breathing techniques, EFT (tapping) and guided imagery. I believe that using our imagination is an important element of therapy, so that we can see beyond the challenges of our current situation, make changes and feel hopeful about the future.

As every client has different needs, I will very much work with you to see what approach suits you. For some, this might be a focus on talking and sharing your thoughts and feelings; for others, it might be using creative interventions such as guided visualisations. Whichever way works best for you, by the end of our time together, I believe that you will have a better understanding of yourself and your situation, and be able to move forward positively in your life.

I aim to bring kindness, empathy, honesty, curiosity and humour into my relationships with my clients and the world.

Areas I can help with include: addiction, anxiety, depression, family-related issues, health-related worries, loneliness, low self-esteem, overeating, relationship problems, stress, trauma, work-related concerns.

I also have specialist training in supporting people who have been bereaved and have worked as a bereavement volunteer for CRUSE.

Practice description

Our sessions with be an hour long.  I work face-to-face, from my home in Woodhouse Eaves, or online via Zoom.

I offer either weekly or fortnightly sessions and we will discuss how many sessions you need when we meet, and review this as we go along.

My first session

I prefer our first meeting to be a longer, 75-minute session  (at the same cost) so it gives me a chance to find out more about you and for us to see if we are a 'good fit'. I will ask a few questions, so that I get a clear picture of your history and current situation, and what you hope to get from therapy. You will also have a chance to ask me any questions.

It can be daunting and nerve-wracking opening up to somebody new, and it takes courage to do so. Everything that you share with me will be confidential. After our first session, if we both feel comfortable working together, and I am confident that I can help you, we will agree on a number of sessions – usually six to start with.

Please do give me a call for an initial chat. The reception on my mobile phone can be poor, so it may go to voicemail. Please do leave a message and I will call you back as soon as I can.
