About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for looking at my profile and considering me as a therapist who may be suitable for you. I am passionate about counselling people through grief and loss and I work with integrity, admiring all my clients who find the strength and courage to seek support.
The foundation of our work together uses the person centred approach, enabling you to bring your concerns and to each session. I competently work with a diverse range of clients from a variety of different cultures and backgrounds.
In addition to talking therapy, I can work creatively only if you are open to and comfortable with this. I offer a range of art materials which can often enhance self-expression. Sessions with me can often bring a mix of emotions; sometimes sadness, compassion, anger, reflection, guilt and resolve.
My natural way of being, together with my own life experiences and resilience enable me to work with sensitivity, understanding, deep compassion and empathy.
I firmly believe that forming a strong, trusting relationship with you is always at the heart of counselling and is key to the success of our time together.
Practice description
I am an experienced, specialist bereavement counsellor, having worked for over 7 years at a hospice, supporting bereaved families.
Alongside counselling, I have worked for a charity for 25 years; I provide emotional support to family carers on a one to one basis as well as facilitating support groups. I work with a multitude of people, including carers of family members with dementia, physical health conditions, often with terminal diagnoses. I am highly experienced in supporting clients throughout their caring journey and for some, this includes post bereavement. At times, it can be difficult for carers to separate themselves from the personal trauma of the person they care for and this stress can often be internalised.
Our sessions are 50 minutes and we can work in the short or longer term, reviewing throughout the process. Initially weekly sessions are recommended as it helps to build a rapport between us and the therapy tends to flow better.

My first session
I understand that starting counselling can, for some, be a new and daunting experience, bringing up a mixture of different feelings.
I provide a warm, welcoming and confidential space to help explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I do my very best to provide reassurance and to help you feel at ease.
I carry out a brief assessment of your needs over the telephone and answer any questions that you may have. I will and go through my contract with you at your first session and we will decide together how to work going forwards.
