About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Jonathan.
Thank you for checking out my profile and for making that brave step to discover more about how working with the right counsellor may lead you to find direction in life or prevent past events from stopping you from living the future you would like to.
Do you feel you:
have come to a crisis point?
are affected by a life-changing event?
are experiencing feelings of isolation, loneliness, grief, depression or anxiety?
are experiencing low self-esteem, self-destructive behaviours or feeling anger, shame or guilt?
are trapped, bored or lacking in any sense of direction?
are experiencing negative issues in a significant relationship?
These are some issues that people often need to talk about with someone else, without fear of causing worry to others about the way you’re feeling. You may also feel that anything you have been able to do previously to help manage these issues is no longer working in a positive way for you.
This is the time that you may wish to make a connection between yourself and a counsellor.
Finding and forming a suitable alliance with a counsellor in a safe space, where you are able to explore your feelings, emotions and experiences, is an investment in yourself that can also help to avoid longer-term, life-affecting problems.

Practice description
The relationship that I have with my clients is being that person who is down-to-earth and approachable and with whom they can find a connection. They can talk to me openly, feeling safe to invest in the counselling process and feel respected in a completely non-judgmental environment.
My clients understand that I am completely invested in them and that they are my number one priority. One of the benefits that I often hear from my clients is that they choose to work with me because I am “authentic and real”.
If this sounds like the safe, transparent, respectful and confidential space that would suit your counselling needs. I offer a range of services to address specific issues such as anxiety and depression, addiction and recovery, anger management and exploration and abuse and trauma.
This is my commitment to you and what you can expect to experience from our confidential counselling sessions:
always based around your very individual need and personal frame of reference
safe, confidential, transparent and respectful with clear boundaries
a two-way process where you can feel change developing in the ‘space’ between us
a place where you can focus on that time away from outside pressures
always founded on impartial listening where you will feel listened to and understood
a place of exploration at your own pace
a place where you feel comfortable enough to challenge
a positive investment of your time
My first session
I usually suggest that we get together for an initial discovery session to get to know each other, find out what brings you to counseling and find out if you feel comfortable working with me, asking me any questions you need to and getting a feel for how we would work together.
The discovery session can be either a free 30-minute session or a full 50-minute session at the standard fee.
My face-to-face sessions are delivered in my counseling room at City Lab in Lancaster. During the current coronavirus pandemic, I have also developed significant experience of working with clients remotely, where this may be a preferred option. The online connection has proved very successful, with many people, as we adapt to working together within a safe virtual space.
To get started you can contact me via this website or use my mobile number to call or send a text. I will then call you back and have a brief five to ten-minute phone call to get the ball rolling.
