Introductory offer: £50 for the first 6 weeks. I'm available for new clients on Monday evenings and Tuesday to Thursday mornings/lunchtimes.
When you're ready, you can email me to arrange an initial conversation about the possibility of starting counselling.
Meeting on Zoom or the phone gives you flexibility over where your counselling takes place, with the benefits of reduced travel time and the convenience of being in your own space.
My client hours are Mondays 3.30-9pm and Tues/Weds/Thurs 9am-1.20pm
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
About me and my therapy practice
Ask about my new client offer. Do you need someone to talk to? You’re welcome here. Feeling stuck in life, ruminating, or reliving difficult moments? I know how painful it can be. Together we can create a relationship where you feel seen and learn to be more in touch with yourself and others.
Whether it’s your mental health, relationships, or life changes that you need help with, I believe that somewhere inside, you know best how to right yourself. You can decide what we talk about and we will go at your pace.
When I hit a rough period in my life, I needed to learn skills to better manage my own pain and shape the life I wanted going forward. That’s why I incorporate powerful body-based practices such as Mindfulness, Focusing, and Non-Violent Communication, into my counselling. My approach brings together Person-centred and Experiential practice, so you can feel your experience change.
I have a particular interest in helping people connect with themselves, as this can be an anchor to hold you steady, and a compass to help you move. I work with clients with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, family conflict, divorce, singleness, work related issues, stress, identity, climate and eco-anxiety. I have specialist training in bereavement.
In a client’s words: “I highly recommend Catherine to anyone considering a counsellor to support them through difficulties – she is accepting, understanding, and knowledgeable, and offers a warm and safe counselling experience” - J.M.
If you feel daunted by starting counselling, I will try and help you feel as relaxed as possible. We’ve got as long as you need. I’m ready to meet you as you are, and listen to you in a way that help you feel more yourself again.
Practice description
Person-Centred counselling is all about coming alongside you in solidarity. With a background in Social Anthropology, I spent years in UK, Europe, Africa, and Asia, seeking to understand the human condition, and be in solidarity with people’s suffering. I value a person-centred approach to learning from life, having home-educated my children. My life has been inspired by Faith Traditions, Mindfulness, Focusing, Enneagram of Personality, Non-Violent Communication and Child-Led Education.
My life experience gives me particular insights into issues of identity, culture, and spirituality, as well as relationships, family and children.
I use an embodied approach because understanding what our body is telling us, can help make sure we are with the thing that really needs our attention. We might check in with your bodily ‘felt sense’ of situations in your life so that we can gently listen to your body’s wisdom and let this guide your decisions.
I’ve seen my clients become more in touch with their own sense of a situation, more accepting of themselves and their experience, and more self-determined and empowered.
Zoom or phone counselling makes therapy more accessible for people with busy lives, or limited accessibility, giving you flexibility over where and how your counselling takes place, with the benefits of reduced travel time and the convenience of being in your own space. Being able to see me gives you more of the benefits you get from in-person counselling but with the convenience of online therapy.
My first session
When you're ready to start, let's arrange a free 30-minute initial Zoom or phone call. Let me know whether you’d like to do this by 'phone or Zoom and a range of times you’re available, and I will confirm a time with you.
You will be able to ask questions and tell me why you’d like to come to counselling now. I will go through my Counselling Agreement with you, and tell you more about how I work. We can then see whether we are suited and if so, arrange a time to begin.
You may want to decide in advance what to bring, or we can work with whatever is alive for you at the time. If you need a little help to get started, I can ask you some questions, or if needed, I can help you pause and take stock, so we can really hear what needs our attention.
The beginning phase of counselling is often about us getting to know each other, and building a trusting relationship where you feel safe to explore aspects of your life that don’t always feel easy. I can reassure you that I’m ready to welcome you and give you a safe space to help you come home to yourself.
What I can help with
ADD / ADHD, AIDS/HIV, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Cancer, Child related issues, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Cultural issues, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Menopause, Mood disorder, Neurodiversity, Personal development, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Vegan allied, Women's issues, Work related issues
