About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative Counsellor working in London. I hold a BA honours degree in Counselling and Theology from The London School of Theology in London in collaboration with Middlesex University, where I studied for three years. I also hold a MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health. As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC), I follow their ethical framework and the professional standard for my practice.
I work with clients in London who have been experiencing a range of issues, including bereavement, anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, stress, relationship issues and trauma. I offer online and telephone support.
I also work in schools supporting secondary aged young people, and I also facilitate parenting workshops and courses.
Practice description
Every client is unique. The plan is to seek to provide a professional, supportive, confidential environment for you to reflect on what is concerning you. One size does not fit all. The integrative counsellor will use the tools at their disposal to support you on your journey. That means listening very carefully and for you to be heard clearly; this allows you to begin to process your thoughts and feelings and to begin to be able to make sense of your feelings, difficulties and challenges.
My first session
Your initial appointment will give you an opportunity to discuss your difficulties, ask any questions and for you to assess whether you feel comfortable to work with the therapist. This time will also include questionnaires and cover a range of different areas such as your personal history, relationships and styles of relating to others, thinking and problem-solving styles. Then we can decide together if counselling is going to be the most beneficial type of support.During this first session the aim is to exchange necessary information, build a strong rapport, instil hope for change and set counselling parameters. A better informed client can use counselling more efficiently, setting the scene for helping effective change to happen.
