About me and my therapy practice
Hi I’m Sophie, I see myself as open-minded and passionate about helping people through times of difficulty. You may be struggling with something on your own or feel you need support that you can't get anywhere else. What you say matters to me. I will listen deeply to what you’re going through and will be with you every step of the way.
I offer a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space for you to explore whatever may be troubling you. Maybe you would like help to make sense of it all when things feel completely all over the place. You may even have emotions like shame, anger, jealousy, or guilt, that are difficult to talk about. Sometimes the pain, confusion or worry can become too much, and you've just had enough. Things may have got to a point where you feel in crisis or powerless and you need support going forward.
Practice description
Counselling with me allows you to go at your own pace, acknowledges your uniqueness, allows you to be heard, gives you the time and space to explore, reflect and deal with struggles you may be going through.
My approach aims to help you, feel understood and less alone with what you are going through, process difficult emotions, experiences, or trauma and feel safe and grounded, going at your own pace without pressure throughout the process.
Together we'll work towards helping you get to know and understand yourself better, explore what your needs are, trust your own instincts, become more empowered, resilient, and confident going forward and to find the solutions that are right for you.
I can help with a range of issues, but have experience helping people with depression, anxiety, trauma, communication, career and relationship issues. I have worked for 7 years in mental health services in the NHS and have five years experiencing of counselling a range of clients with The Brain Charity and Talking Together and in private practice.
I have a special interest in ADHD, a complex and often misunderstood condition which can be very frustrating and distressing, I often help clients after receiving a diagnosis to make sense of and process this, aiming to find ways to create a more fulfilling and meaningful life going forward. My knowledge and own lived experience, enables me to offer empathy and affirmation and provide a safe space to explore this.
My first session
It's natural to feel nervous and unsure about coming to counselling especially if it's for the first time. Be reassured that there's no pressure to 'know what to say' the first session is a great opportunity for us to get to know each other, explore what has brought you here and look at the ways that counselling/ therapy may help you in particular. Feel free to pop me an email or message to discuss further.
