About me and my therapy practice

I am currently offering face to face appointments, online appointments (via Zoom) and telephone counselling.

I also offer Walk & Talk therapy - please contact me for details.

Thank you for making contact at what I realise may be a challenging time for you. I am a qualified and experienced counsellor with a private practice in Twickenham, working face to face, online and over the telephone.

I offer a confidential space where you can feel safe, understood and trusted as you start to explore the reasons why you feel as you do.

I recognise that you may feel you are struggling, lacking in strength or confidence and perhaps unsure about where to turn or who to turn to. You may be looking for something more from life, worried about these difficult times.

Counselling can give you a safe and confidential space which is uniquely yours, where you won’t be judged but you will be heard. You have taken the first step towards change by coming here and reading this far.

How counselling can help

It is part of being human that we may experience situations and emotions that leave us feeling overwhelmed and unable to think clearly or move forward in our lives.

Counselling provides safety - an impartial environment in which you can find emotional support to help you explore and unravel the difficulties you are facing and move towards the change required to rediscover your true self and live a more fulfilling life.

Practice description

How I work

I know that taking the first step to make contact requires courage at a time when you may feel anything but courageous. However, I will offer you the opportunity to share your thoughts, your anxieties and your fears, whatever they are, so that we may work together as you find your way to a calmer and more hopeful way of being.

I will help you to look at questions such as:

- What are the implications of how I choose to live my life.

- What are the patterns that are repeated, and why?

- What is my personal history that has contributed to these patterns?

As a therapist I will help you to make these connections so that you understand yourself more.

I am integrative in my approach which means that our work together will be specifically tailored to you, recognising that every client is unique. I draw on a range of knowledge and skills, adapting my approach to suit your individual needs.

Training, qualifications and experience

I have a postgraduate Diploma in Therapeutic Integrative Counselling and am a registered member of the the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I subscribe to their ethical code of practice.

In addition to my private practice, I have gained extensive experience working as a counsellor for an addictions charity. I have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the emotional trauma around addiction - both from the client’s point of view and also the families and friends who struggle to support the individual. I have considerable understanding of 12 Step recovery programmes.

I also hold a postgraduate teaching degree and, prior to training as a counsellor, I worked for many years as a teacher and mentor in London secondary schools. This has given me a deep understanding and interest in the difficulties and challenges faced by young people today as they grow into adulthood in this ever-changing world.

My first session

Finding the right therapist can feel challenging and even daunting and I aim to make the process as straightforward as possible.

I offer a free initial telephone consultation or, if you prefer, you can come straight into your first session. During the initial appointment we can discuss whether you feel that counselling would be beneficial to you and you can ask any questions about the process.

What is most important is that our relationship will be at the heart of how we work together, helping you face the issues that you bring to me. I will listen to you carefully and work with you without judgment. Whatever your situation, I will offer you the support you need.

I provide short or long term counselling and our sessions will last around fifty minutes, usually taking place on a weekly basis at the same time.

I work mainly with adults, though I also enjoy working with older teenagers from 17 years and up.

If you are looking for someone who is calm, approachable and committed, please make contact using the details provided.
