Practice description

Reaching out is the first step in healing. Recognising and understanding what is going on for you, could be the start of the change you have been seeking. With professional support, together we can do just that. You have just started to take control of your life.

I believe that everyone has the potential to thrive, not just survive. I am curious to know what your life feels like for you and how we can move you from what troubles you and prevents you from thriving. As an integrative counsellor together, we can forge a path to start making that progress.

The counselling I offer provides you with the opportunity to speak in a confidential space free from judgement and with a freedom you may not have in other relationships.

My professional experiences mean that I have worked with Abuse, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Cancer, Child related issues, , Depression, family and relationship issues, Loss, Personal development, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self-esteem, Self-harm, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Stress, Studies, Trauma, Women's issues including menopause, Work related issues

I have developed a specialism in prolonged and complex grief. Prolonged grief, where suffering the effects of a loss seems hard to manage after a period, a feeling that you ‘should’ have moved on, or that is what people are telling you. Complex grief can involve multiple losses, where you have not yet had the time to process and adjust to one loss and then along comes another. It might not be a death, but loss of a job, a marriage, identity, friendships even a pet. Multiple unprocessed losses can evolve into complex grief.

My specialism with grief comes from a background with Hospice work, counselling with Macmillan and counselling those bereaved by suicide for large charity.

Practice description

I use a mixture of the 7 eyed model and the Normative, Formative and Restorative methods of supervision, which places the supervisee, the client, the work and the wider context within the centre of the supervision.

I am curious to know what is going on for you during your counselling sessions with clients as well as the interventions you choose to support your clients. I see my role to support you in understanding your role, influences, and blocks within the therapeutic relationship, just as much as the work you are doing with your clients.

I have experience of running supervision groups with a large charity for trainee and qualified counsellor.

I have been the Counselling Lead for another charity supporting trainee counsellors on their placements.
