About me and my therapy practice
Cognitive behavioural therapist and psychodynamic psychotherapist with over 7 years experience working in mental health services for the University of London
-
I trained in two very different styles of therapy (cognitive behavioural and psychodynamic) because people come to therapy for many reasons, and I wanted my work to embody the breadth of what therapy covers - from the evidence-based and goal-directed, to the creative and mysterious.
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is solution-focused and involves practical steps. It's particularly recommended for anxiety and depression by the NHS.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy focuses on the unconscious (those things outside of our awareness). It provides a framework for personality exploration and self-expression.
Something I find rewarding about working as a therapist is the variety of people I get to know. Everyone brings a problem that requires detective work and planning, or a story with layers that has something important to say about who they are.
Please feel free to send me a message. If you'd like to know a bit more about me and the way I work, please visit my website.
Practice description
All sessions are currently remote, either via online or telephone. Online sessions will be done through Google Meet (you do not need a Google account to access these online sessions, just the link and a computer, tablet, or smart phone with a camera and mic).
Sessions are £50 for 50 minutes. This can be paid before each appointment via bank transfer.
My first session
During the first session, we'll discuss why you sought therapy and your goals. I'll ask you questions about your life to get a better understanding of your circumstances and the aspects of your past that have impacted you. We'll discuss how I believe I can help you. Where I believe you would be better served by another specialist or service, I'll endeavour to send you resources and provide you with a referral.
