About me and my therapy practice

Do you feel unsure about relationships in your life (family, friends, colleagues), maybe you’re worried about whether some relationships are healthy or maybe past experiences have left you anxious about handling existing relationships or starting new experiences or relationships?

I am experienced in working with clients experiencing difficulties around relationships (family, friends, colleagues), identity, self-esteem, alcohol and substance use, and coping with traumatic experiences.

I have experience working with clients across all age groups, with different ethnic backgrounds, sexualities, genders (including cis, transgender and nonbinary clients), religious identities (including religious abuse), disabilities and of working with neurodivergent and neurotypical clients.

I am also experienced in working with those who experience marginalisation in society, either through identify, experiences or diagnosis.

I am committed to offering a service which is welcoming to all clients in a supportive and non-discriminatory manner.

If there is an adaptation or adjustment which would enable you to experience therapy more fully and comfortably which has not been discussed, please let me know.

I am a Registered and Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP - Accred) and I abide by its Code of Ethics and specific Guidelines for Online Counselling and Psychotherapy. This includes keeping up to date with continuing professional development and supervision.

As well as working in private practice I have also worked within a number of Charity based Counselling Services over the years, supporting both Adult and Young Adult clients in both shorter term and long term work. This has included working with clients around self-harm and suicidal thoughts.

Practice description

What to expect?

When we work together you can expect a safe, non-judgemental place to explore your thoughts and feelings around any area of your life which you wish to change, explore or understand more.

As a person-centred counsellor I work alongside you as a facilitator to your own developing process. Although sometimes it may not always feel like it, as a person-centred therapist I believe you are the expert in your own experience, my role is to create the therapeutic space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings safely, with support and gain insights.

I aim to create a therapeutic space where you feel comfortable and able to explore different areas of your life, to say the things which might seem they can’t be said elsewhere, or you feel might not be understood. This will be your space and your session to bring your stuff and explore as you wish. This might mean you’re bringing a whole range of emotions which can tumble out, but feel assured all feelings and emotions are welcome to be explored.

We may work together for just a handful of sessions or it could be for longer if there are more complex issues. We can decide together how many sessions are appropriate and then review this regularly throughout our time together.

My first session

I offer a free initial telephone consultation for all new clients.

In this session we can discuss what you would like to get from counselling and I can answer any questions you may have. We can also discuss the boundaries around our sessions and what the process could be like.

It is very important that you feel comfortable in counselling and a key part of starting counselling is understanding the confidentiality you can expect from myself as your counsellor. This will be something we can discuss as part of your initial session.

Please get in touch using the contact form above or call/text 07561 030126 to arrange an initial consultation (free).

I respond to every enquiry which is made to my practice. I will respond using your preferred contact method usually within 1 working day of your enquiry. Please check your spam or junk folder if you have requested an email response and cannot yet see a reply.
