About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling anxious or apprehensive, or are you living with depression? Perhaps you have experienced traumatic situations from which you don't feel you have recovered, or you are going through a particular change or loss and are struggling to cope. You may have specific areas you would like to explore, or you may feel like counselling would benefit you, but you aren't sure why.
Practice description
My practice is anchored in the person-centred approach and I will welcome you in a warm and non-judgemental way where we can work together to help explore your concerns in a safe and confidential space. The person-centred approach puts you at the core of our interactions. I believe that each person has their own resources to improve the quality of their life, so my role is to help you find some of these.
My first session
I appreciate that coming to counselling can sometimes seem daunting, especially if it’s your first experience of being in therapy, so it helps to know what to expect. During the first session, I will tell you a little about myself and how we might work together. You will also have the space to talk about anything you like; some people start by sharing what brings them to counselling. This session will also give you a chance to ask any questions you may have.
At the end of the first session, we can discuss your experience and whether we feel we could work together. At this point, we might decide to arrange a regular appointment, or you may prefer to go home and reflect.
I offer a reduced fee of £50 for the first session, as it's an opportunity to see if we can work together, and to find out if counselling is the best way forward for you. If I can be of further help, please feel free to email or call me and we can set up a time to meet.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma and a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy and have experience of working with people in the following areas: anxiety, depression, sexuality, gender, loss, bereavement, intrusive thoughts, OCD, self-esteem, self-harm, relationship issues, personal/work-related stress, as well as childhood and recent trauma.
I am a registered member of BACP (The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) where I abide by their code of ethics. I am also a fully insured practitioner.
