About me and my therapy practice

Play and Creative Arts therapy is not just for children!

When words alone are not enough, we sometimes need different ways to process and express our feelings. You can choose to talk or do more creative activities (even if you don't think you are the creative arty type). Play therapy offers a powerful medium for working with adults with complex trauma because play addresses areas of social, emotional, and cognitive development compromised from chronic interpersonal trauma exposure.

My special interest is working with Trauma and Attachment issues. Unbeknown to us, many of the challenges we face as adults stem from trauma or attachment issues we experienced in our childhood. This can shape how we behave, make decisions and relate to others.

I have worked with children and parents for over 15 years, first as an educator and now as an accredited Play Therapist and parenting coach. I’m passionate about attachment, connection, play, creativity, and stories as part of a healthy being.

Whether children or adults, we all need someone we can talk to or be with who is nonjudgmental, reflective, and honest. Someone who makes you feel safe enough to talk and safe enough to make the changes you need.

Going to therapy or even considering one can feel momentous and many people may feel nervous, worried or shy. This is ok. Rest assured that your session will be safe and confidential. I may not be your best buddy, but I will be your strongest ally. I will help you see through your difficult moments, help you process what may appear uncomfortable and challenging, and help you find clarity and plan for the days ahead.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and PTUK (Play Therapy UK), adhering to their codes of ethics and practice.

Practice description

I see clients in Beeston, Nottingham. Easy and free parking nearby.

I also offer clients online sessions, via Zoom or GoogleMeet video calls. Don't worry if you've never used this before or don't know how it works - I can send you full instructions or even talk you through it over the phone. Once we have it set up it will mean that we can talk to each other and see each other, which makes the experience as close to a face to face session as possible.

I offer sessions in English and Indonesian.

I also offer Supervision sessions. This is offered in line with BACP and/or PTUK guidelines. I offer concession fees for students / trainee counsellors.

My first session

Choosing the kind of therapist to work with can be hard!

I therefore offer an initial free of charge 20 minute phone conversation to explore what you need and how it may feel for us to work together.

There is no obligation for further sessions, but ongoing sessions can be discussed and booked in the session if we both feel comfortable and wish to continue working together.
