About me and my therapy practice
My name is Sue and I welcome you to my page. I hold huge love and commitment in working alongside people to empower them in looking at events in their lives which may have been overwhelming or distressing and can happen to anyone at any time.
Sometimes life can leave us feeling stuck, not knowing where to turn. Distressing events can fill us with fear in taking the next step. Feeling confused and overwhelmed can unexpectedly stop us in our tracks. Whatever your challenge, my approach is to offer an honest, trusting relationship within which to accompany you through your difficulties to regain your confidence in finding your way to a better place in life.
I offer counselling face-to-face or by Zoom. If you are looking for support, we can begin our exploration together by contacting me to arrange a free 20 minute conversation over the phone.
Practice description
I am a qualified integrative counsellor. I embody the person-centred philosophy and psychodynamic ideals but am not limited to these approaches. I enjoy working with clients in ways that acknowledge and respect everyone's individuality and preferences.
I have the fullest commitment to offering a service which is welcoming to all backgrounds in a supportive and non-discriminatory manner.
Taking that first step can often feel daunting but I am here to guide you through the process of discovering what feels right for you. My invitation is for you to explore your difficulties together, with me.
My first session
It's very important to me that you are comfortable and feel as though you are making the right choice when deciding to work with me. This is why I offer the opportunity for you to contact me so we can book a time which works for both of us to have a free 20 minute phone call. You will have the opportunity to ask me any questions you may have to help you decide if you'd like us to work together.
If all goes well, we would then arrange to meet for an assessment session of up to one hour. The purpose of this is to gain a comprehensive picture of your health, history, what is bringing you to counselling and why now. This will help us to explore together which aspects you would like to focus on and how we may work together to help you achieve your aims.
If we choose to start our journey together, then we'll discuss our working agreement which includes details such as the day, time and initial number of sessions, confidentiality, session fees and cancellation policy.
After that, in most cases, sessions will be held on the same day and time each week and with sessions being 50 minutes long.
