About me and my therapy practice

What has shaped you, and who are you becoming? Who are you inside, and what are you dreams and hopes? My work as a person-centred counsellor is about giving space for you to explore your own sense of self and understand yourself better with gentle curiosity and compassion.

Often during our lives we find ourselves carrying things like insecurity, sadness, anger, apathy, anxiety, grief, fear, shame or despair, and as time goes on this can get heavier and heavier. The counselling space is a place to explore all that you are carrying, with the hope that together we can find a way to lighten that load, allow you to take a deep breath, and feel more connected with yourself.

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor based in Nottingham, working both in person and online with individuals ages 18+. I am trained in integrative counselling, incorporating person-centred counselling with tools from other modalities including pluralistic psychotherapy and psychodynamic therapy.

I also have an interest in somatic therapy, noticing and being with our own embodied experiences with curiosity and compassion. My way of working is collaborative, open and non-judgemental. I have experience in working with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, , relational difficulties, bereavement, shame and infertility.

Choosing a counsellor and beginning the process can feel challenging, so if you have further questions about the counselling process or my way of working then please contact me.

Practice description

I work in a comfortable counselling room within the Quadrant business centre in Beeston, which is within walking distance of the town centre.

I have experience working with clients for short term, medium term or longer term blocks of therapy, and will discuss your goals with you so we can agree how to proceed in our work together.

I have worked regularly with many issues including bereavement, anxiety, depression, regret and shame, and relationships.

I also offer online sessions using Google Meet to facilitate the video calls.

My first session

At the first session I will ask you questions to understand what brings you to therapy and what you would like to work on. I will also ask about your background and what life is like day-to-day. This allows us to see if I will be a good fit for you as a counsellor, and for you to ask any questions you might have.

After this session if you would like to continue, then we can agree to meet regularly (usually weekly or fortnightly) at the same time/day for some sessions moving forward.
