About me and my therapy practice
A warm welcome to you! I'm Jo and I’m a counsellor and psychotherapist with a wealth of experience in providing support to clients with a range of difficulties and concerns from relationship difficulties to anxiety, low self-esteem and work related issues to name a few! (please see all difficulties listed at the bottom of my page).
Whatever your struggle may be, the good news is you’ve taken the first step in making a positive change, and that is why you are currently reading these very words - you are considering counselling and although that may seem scary right now it also may be the best decision you ever made.
I encourage you to take that second step and allow me (or a counsellor of your choosing) to assist you with exploring your struggles and concerns, and together we can navigate through your thoughts and feelings in a warm, safe and non-judgemental environment with the aim of personal growth, nourishment and ultimately being able to live a fuller life.
Person-Centred counselling believes that each and every person can, and will, become a more fully functioning person if given the correct conditions. The underpinning principles of the Person-Centred Approach are focused on the counsellor being honest, non-judgemental and fully accepting, I aim to offer these conditions as best as I can during our therapeutic relationship.
Practice description
I offer face to face sessions in my relaxing countryside therapy room and online counselling sessions using internet technology such as Zoom, or webcam video link. I also offer telephone counselling (landline or mobile) and use other applications for calls such as Whats App and Messenger. Please feel free to have a tea, coffee or soft drink with you during your online sessions.
Complementary tea, coffee or soft drink is available for all face to face sessions.
There is ample free parking directly outside my practice.
My first session
I offer a free initial online 30 minute session/consultation to all potential new clients.
I feel it is very important you choose the right counsellor for you and that I feel I am able to offer you what you are looking for in a counsellor.
There is absolutely no obligation to book sessions after the consultation but should you wish to do so sessions are 50 minutes long and do not need to be at the same time and day each week / time, although if this is required I usually can accommodate such requests.
You are not obliged to sign up for a set number of sessions; some clients decide after a couple of sessions they are not ready yet , have got what they needed to out of the sessions to date and others may continue therapy for months and sometimes years, it's entirely up to you.
