About me and my therapy practice
Welcome! You must be considering some support while you deal with whatever difficult feelings, anxieties, relationships, mental health issues or life events brought you to this site. I understand. These are brave steps to take.
Hopefully I can help you. I am an Integrative Counsellor working with young people, adults, individuals and couples. So I can support you therapeutically with Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transactional Analysis or the best combination for you. I also offer Mindfulness and breath-work.
I work face to face with clients in premises at the heart of Durham city centre, in Sunderland and Jesmond, Newcastle.
I offer online counselling sessions and telephone sessions.
I also offer walking and talking therapy. This is a way of having outdoor therapy, benefitting from our beautiful local coastal paths or parks.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and therefore accountable to their standards for the safety of the public and the profession. I aim to uphold the standards of the BACP Ethical Framework in my practice.
I offer a free introductory phone-call. It takes 15-30 minutes and could give you the information you need, the chance to ask questions before you decide to start counselling. It also gives you a sense of me and whether I am the right counsellor for you. Make the call, find out more, there's no obligation.

My first session
The first session is an opportunity for you to tell your story and talk about the presenting issues. I assess and gather information. We discuss where you would like to be and how many sessions to book to start with and when to review progress.
The most important thing is getting to know each other! The therapeutic relationship is vital to the outcomes of your counselling.
I always make a point of saying that you might feel worse before you feel better and I can offer no guarantees, I am not promising to fix anything. I work alongside you, helping you to find your own way through.
Ahead of the first session, we sign a working agreement, to give a transparent and shared understanding of the agreed expectations and commitment involved.
