About me and my therapy practice

Hello & Welcome to Repertoire Counselling

All of us at some point in life feel overwhelmed and struggle to understand and carry the weight of our feelings and experiences. This can lead us to feel lost, confused, stuck, alone, anxious, angry and that we are fighting through life all by ourselves. My journey to becoming a therapist emerged out of my own painful experiences, for which I am grateful because I love helping my clients to explore and navigate their way through all that life has to throw at them.

Talking to someone outside of your situation and who is not a family member or a friend can help in gaining relief, self-understanding, self-acceptance and help to build resilience and envision a way forward: this is what I would like to offer you. I am a fully-qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, including Diplomas in Level 4 & 5 Counselling, and a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy Practice. I draw-upon core Person-Centred values to underpin my practice: this means that the direction of our sessions is determined by you the client, your needs are at the centre of our work, I believe that you are the sole authority of your experiences and the quality of the therapeutic relationship is key to inspiring meaningful change.

Practice description

My practice is primarily based on the humanistic models of helping including the Person-Centred, Existential and Gestalt approaches to help us both more accurately understand how you experience yourself and your unique place in the world. Depending on the specific needs of those I work with, this could involve looking at past experiences, present experiences and how you might envision your future. I believe that each person is unique, has a unique story and there is not one therapeutic approach that suits all.

As part of my commitment to ongoing personal and professional growth, I have undertaken learning such as:

  • Workshops in Existential exploration in therapy, Existential philosophy & the Existential exploration of the human experience of anxiety
  • Mindfulness
  • Supporting and being curious about the lived experiences of Transgender and Non-Binary people
  • Developing my understanding of the holistic effects of traumatic experiencing via academic/professional study

My role will be to work in-partnership with you, to really hear you, support you and challenge you where appropriate, within a safe and comfortable environment based on trust, acceptance, kindness and without fear of judgment. Sessions are open-ended, so you get to choose how long you would like to commit. Above all else, I don't claim to hold the answers or be an expert of you, but it is my hope that our time together may help you to find answers and make connections within a caring and meaningful experience. As you embark on a unique investment in you, I would feel honoured to be part of your journey.

Making initial contact can be daunting but if you feel that we might be a good fit and would like to arrange a free initial conversation, then I look forward to hearing from you.

Contact me via the bacp, drop me an email at: pfcounselling@outlook.com, or contact me by phone on the number provided.

My first session

I offer a free initial conversation lasting 15-30 minutes, either online via Zoom or by phone. This will allow us to talk about what I am able to offer and will also help us to gage whether we will be able to work together: it is important to me that I am the right person for those I work with. If you would like to arrange this please get in touch by phone or email.

Our first session after the initial meeting will include a assessment which will help me to gain a clearer picture of what you may be looking for from therapy and to make sure that I possess the appropriate levels of competency to ensure that our time together is conducted safely. I will also conduct regular reviews with you to gain an understanding of how you are experiencing our sessions.
