About me and my therapy practice
Hello and a warm welcome to my profile. I am a BACP Accredited counsellor and psychotherapist based in Romsey. I work with adults and couples on both short and long term basis. My specialisms include anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship problems and I am fully trained in EMDR therapy. I offer a free 20-minute consultation to help you get a sense of how I work and decide whether I am the right therapist for you.
Alongside my private practice, I also work as a lecturer in Counselling at Peter Symonds AHED College in Winchester and as a counsellor at Carers Together, a charitable organisation supporting carers in Hampshire.
Individual counselling and psychotherapy
My therapeutic approach is warm and empathic. I aim to provide a welcoming and confidential space where we work together through the problems you are experiencing. The pace and focus of the sessions is adapted to your individual needs to ensure you get the most benefit from your therapy.
Alongside my specialisms, I regularly work with a wide range of other difficulties, including stress at home and at work, self-harm, panic attacks, OCD, self-criticism and low confidence, self-sabotage, feelings of shame, anger management, and experiences of abuse. I am experienced in working with neurodiversity including ADHD, Autism and Sensory Processing difficulties. I also deal with more general problems, such as inner conflict, feelings of dissatisfaction with life, or a lack of fulfilment and direction.
Couples therapy
Couples and relationship therapy is suitable for any couple – heterosexual, same-sex, or family, such as mother and daughter. Whether your relationship is under strain from unresolved conflicts, resentments, communication problems, life changes, or any other struggles, couples therapy can help you work through these issues, deepen your understanding of each other, and find a way forward.
Practice description
My core therapeutic modality is Transactional Analysis, a humanistic approach that offers intuitive and practical ways of understanding and changing problematic thinking, feeling, behavioural and relational patterns. Transactional Analysis explains how our past experiences and relationships impact us in the present. It helps us process these experiences and build new, positive ways of being in which we can be true to ourselves and to those around us.
I also integrate other approaches in my work, including EMDR, Gestalt, Person-centred, Focusing Oriented Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Polyvagal theory. Additionally, I draw on creative and experiential methods such as Mindfulness, grounding, visualisations and art therapy.
As part of my integrative work, I draw on other therapeutic approaches including Gestalt, Person-centred, Focusing Oriented Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, and Polyvagal theory.
