About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor with additional specialist training in trauma therapy. I offer a warm and caring environment where you have the freedom to explore the issues that are impacting negatively on your life; to feel heard and not judged. This can sometimes offer insight which can be empowering and enable the opportunity for positive life changes. Whether you have suffered from a single or multiple events you may have been left feeling scared a lot of the time; with a racing heart, poor concentration, churning stomach or trembling, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, nightmares or flashbacks. I will work with you to help you reduce these symptoms.
You may also be suffering from a range of difficult emotions such as fear, horror, guilt, shame, anger or emotionally numb. You may avoid people or places in case they trigger the event and as a result have become more isolated and withdrawn. When you feel ready, we will start to explore your difficult experiences with the aim of gaining an understanding of what is going on for you and how your experiences have impacted on your life.
If you have suffered from childhood abuse, domestic abuse, bullying, a victim of crime or witness, you may be the partner or family member of the victim of a crime, a recent or historic event, reported or not. It may be something which seems insignificant to you but has had a significant impact on you. If you are struggling to manage, please contact me for a free initial assessment.
I am able to offer face to face sessions, or remotely if that is your preference; telephone/Zoom.
I have experience working as a counsellor at the mental health charity Mind, a hospice and a college.
My first session
I offer a free initial 20 minute phone call.
Alternatively we can meet online or face to face for the initial session (20-50 minutes, determined by you) at a reduced fee of £25.
Both these options enable us to get to know each other and make sure we are a good fit.
