I have some availability for in-person clients now.
I work from two different locations in central Edinburgh on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon/eve. I can offer online therapy more flexibly across the week.
About me and my therapy practice
People come to counselling for many different reasons but often because they have had enough of feeling unwanted emotions.
You might be coming with a specific query, like: I want to have a better relationship with my partner / family; I wish I could stop feeling so anxious; Will I ever get over this sense of loss?; I’ve realised I need some help with my anger.
Or you may have an underlying feeling that something isn’t right with you, such as: I don’t know who I am anymore; I’ve realised I’ve been feeling low for some time; I don’t seem to be able to stop thinking about past events and relationships.
I am a qualified person-centred counsellor skilled in supporting female and male adult clients through and after difficult events, as well as moving from one life stage to another. I can help you with finding a way to develop a sense of identity when you feel lost and assist you in understanding and communicating effectively in your most important relationships. I have experience of working with clients struggling to adjust to their changing circumstances, whether that is the transition to student life or loss of an important relationship.
I have also worked for 30 years in careers coaching in different educational settings (including 20 years in universities), so can encompass broader life issues in our work together. I can give you guidance on aspects of developing your confidence to move forward in your career choices, making sound career decisions based on realistic options, as well as application and interview advice.

Availability
December 2024
I am currently able to take on trainee, newly qualified and experienced counselling supervisees.
I have limited capacity to take on in-person clients currently (normally Saturday mornings, Mon afternoon, Tuesday late afternoon / eve and afternoon Wed) in central Edinburgh.
I'm available to work online with supervisees throughout the UK across the week.
About me and my therapy practice
As a supervisor, I have a collaborative approach which is developed from building a supportive and reflective relationship with my supervisees. I have worked with supervisees from a range of humanistic modalities, and value the insights we can share from different approaches. I can work with you on your development as a qualified counsellor and your self-care, as well as issues that arise from client work.
As a counsellor, I have trained and broadly work in a person-centred modality (PG Dip Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice - 2019). I currently work in private practice and also remotely for an EAP, taking a wide range of clients. I volunteered for an organisation delivering Talking Therapies for the NHS for two years during and after my training, as well as training with CRUSE and RASASC.
I have 30 years’ experience of person-centred careers guidance & coaching, as well as training other professionals in a range of educational settings. I’m also qualified and have worked in social research, which influences the breadth of my view on social justice and diversity. I also offer careers counselling / coaching as part of my private practice.
