About me and my therapy practice
As an experienced person-centred counsellor, I profoundly believe in the uniquely transformative potential of offering a therapeutic space for you to safely explore your experience of yourself and how you relate to the world.
While other relationships, such as friends & family, may be partly based on assumptions of who you are and what is best for you, my practice is guided by the firm belief that no one is capable of understanding you better than yourself. I am therefore committed to facilitating an exploration of self that is free from assumptions, agendas, and judgements - my sole goal is to understand you, and in doing so help you to better understand yourself and your right to be accurately understood by others.
In addition to offering an empathic and non-judgemental engagement with your experience, I also firmly believe in the importance of offering myself as a real and authentic person within our therapeutic relationship. I deeply believe in the guiding principles of my therapeutic approach and, as such, I offer myself as a profoundly present and engaged participant in our therapeutic relationship.
My professional background (in addition to counselling) includes many years as a specialist mentor for university students with autism spectrum and mental health conditions.
My first session
I offer an initial 1-hour exploratory session at the reduced rate of £30. This is to give you an opportunity to discuss your hopes and expectations for therapy, as well as getting a sense of my way of working and whether you feel we would be a good fit.
