About me and my therapy practice

We will start by getting to know each other a little and finding out what you want to get out of Therapy. It may be something specific or more general help that you are looking for. You might be struggling with some aspect of life such as school, home-life, relationships, career, friends or confidence. You might feel anxious sometimes or feel low in your mood or have a sense that you are misunderstood.

These are just some of the things we can explore over the course of our sessions together. I will try to help you find new ways of facing these challenges so that by the end of our time together you feel a bit clearer about the issues that brought you to therapy and have discovered some new ways of overcoming these challenges. As an integrative therapist I will focus on the approach which is most useful and supportive for you.

Practice description

As a BACP accredited therapist with 20 years of experience of working in the NHS, I have worked with children, adults, families and couples, presenting with a variety of issues including depression, autism, adhd, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, personality disorder and abuse.

I am qualified in integrative therapy, ADOS (working with autism), Dialectic behavioural therapy (DBT), EMDR - an approach which has been shown to help overcome psychological trauma and intermediate level training in Systemic practice from AFT (Association for Family Therapy).

What motivates me as a therapist is a curiosity about people’s lives, about what makes them unique as well as what they struggle with, and seeing the healing that working together can bring.

My first session

At the first session I will try to capture the main issues you bring as well as how I can best help you explore and resolve these issues.  If you are happy to proceed with therapy we will agree a suitable time for our sessions and we might decide to take each week as it comes or agree to a certain number of sessions. The initial assessment will be charged at the same rate as other sessions.
