About me and my therapy practice
I am Dr Mary Doran and I am a professional Psychologist as well as a psychosensory psychotherapist. I have studied and researched to a doctoral level which gives me an additional lens to understand your needs.
My area of expertise lies in working with the 'whole' person and helping clients achieve a sense of wholeness and hope and facilitate a return to a flourishing rather than floundering.
I can gently guide you through obstacles and support you to find resources inside and outside yourself that can help you through whatever hardships you are currently experiencing.
I am based in Northampton, Northamptonshire and I offer assessment, counselling and psychological therapy to individuals, parents and carers, and work with both children and adults. This work aims to support people to better understand and cope with difficulties they may be experiencing so to improve psychological well-being and quality of life.
I also work in a psychosensory way which can include some body work alongside the talking therapy. This can be explained in our first session so you can decide if it is an approach you feel you would benefit from. The body and mind are linked intrinsically and so sometimes working with both can be very effective.
I am also trained in mindfulness and this can be a very beneficial way to help many difficulties.
I provide a safe and confidential space for you to talk about any difficulties or issues which may be causing you concern or distress. This may include:
• Depression and low mood
• Anxiety, panic and phobias
• Self- harm and self-injurious behaviour
• Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
• Anger
• Trauma, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
• Abuse
• Grief, bereavement and loss
• Personality difficulties
• Stress management
• Self esteem
• Childhood issues
• Relationship difficulties
• Self/personal development
• Behavioural difficulties and challenging behaviour
The use of the title Dr in this directory listing relates to the member’s doctorate qualification. However, this does not imply a general medical qualification.
