About me and my therapy practice

My name is Sian and I am an experienced and qualified integrative counsellor. I am committed to providing counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. I am passionate about the benefits that counselling can give in helping to improve our mental wellbeing.

Counselling is a talking therapy that takes place in a safe, non judgemental environment and it provides the opportunity discuss concerns with an independent person. Counselling can provide information or challenges but not advise you how to live your life.

Counsellors are trained to help others cope with emotional and social issues which can affect people of all ages. You may be suffering from anxiety or depression, have relationship problems, low self-esteem, have been bereaved or be dealing with other difficult events. Counselling provides you with a chance to talk about your feelings and experiences in a safe place with someone who will listen to and support you. Your counsellor will seek to understand, not judge and will work with you to make sense of your situation and make changes that improve your life.

I specialise in working with issues around the following:

Anxiety and Depression

Fertility Issues

Donor Conception, surrogacy and adoption

Miscarriage, pregnancy and baby loss

Termination

Pre-natal and post-natal anxiety and depression

Relationship difficulties

Couples counselling (couples MOT)

Trauma

Work issues

Bereavement

LGBTQ+

I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.

I also have extensive experience working with the LGBTQ+ community.

Practice description

I believe in autonomy so although I can guide you on best practice ultimately decisions around number of sessions and frequency depend on you. I don't believe that one size fits all and so the sessions are designed for you and your needs which we can discuss at the first session.

Couples therapy is a bit more directive than individual therapy and so I may make suggestions to guide you.

Mainly I am not there to take sides.

In the first session I will discuss with you both what your aims are with therapy and what you are trying to achieve. I will also take an indepth history.
