About me and my therapy practice

My practice is based on a Person-centred experiential model, which focuses on you as the expert on your own unique human experience. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, depressed, traumatised or grieving the loss of a loved one. Whatever the problem may be that is having a detrimental effect on your feelings and the way you are living your life; I aim to provide a safe space and guidance for you to explore your process and emotions, to promote your self-empowerment.

Following 30 years of working with individuals and families as a Nurse and Midwife in the NHS, I wanted to explore the power of empathy within a trusting relationship. Along with my own life experiences, person-centred experiential counselling provided me with the foundations I needed to help support my clients towards positive change and personal growth. I feel I have developed my own self-awareness and intuition that helps me to be present and truly honour the uniqueness of the individual, by listening and empathising with my client’s sense of self. Also, connecting with my own sense of what my client is feeling in the moment.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic I worked as a Counsellor within my Private Practice, the NHS, Health & Social Care, supporting clients, including  NHS, Care Home staff and GP referrals. I have provided a counselling service via online, telephone and face to face. If you have been affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic in any way, I would like to offer you support through your recovery experience towards positive change.

If you feel you need help and support with anything that is affecting your mental well being and preventing you from being your true self, I can help support you through your process.

Practice description

I offer online or face to face counselling sessions within a private, comfortable and accessible setting.

Due to personal and professional experiences, I have a specific interest in supporting women who are feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from self. Whether this is due to a significant life changing event such as:

  • childhood
  • pregnancy
  • birth
  • postnatal
  • menopause
  • grief & loss
  • relationship/family issues
  • trauma

Or may be you are feeling lost and need help to feel more connection and balance in your life.

I can support and guide you to process and understand your experience and emotions, towards reconnection to self empowerment.

My aims are to guide & support you to:

  • feel heard and understood
  • let go of what is holding you back
  • feel safe and less traumatised
  • increase your self confidence
  • feel more empowered
  • find ways to cope and function

To support my practice, I am also a Trauma Informed Therapist. I can offer The Rewind Technique to help you to regain control over intrusive, involuntary memories that are affecting your quality of life.

Men's Issues:

I also offer my service to men. I highly value and enjoy supporting men through their personal issues. In particular:

  • dealing with high pressure and expectation on self
  • understanding and processing suppressed emotions
  • loss of identity
  • fear & anger

Note:

I currently work in Association with Edge Hill University (with Counselling & Psychotherapy Students), Problem Shared (Private & Students) and Health Assured platforms (Employee Assistance Programme).

Unfortunately I do not work with children or families. Also, I can not work with relatives of my clients.

My first session

If you have never had counselling before, you may feel apprehensive at your 1st session. We will spend this time getting to know each other. I will ask you a few questions to gain information and identify any risks that you may need extra support with.

The 1st session is an opportunity for you to talk about your goals and expectations of therapy. Also, to give an overview of your past and present issues that you would like to explore.
