I work from my Wetherby office on a Wednesday afternoon and evening.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a counsellor and integrative therapist offering private therapy sessions in Wetherby and York. I work with adults on a one-to-one basis and am here to help with whatever difficulties you may be going through.
I do this by offering a private space to talk through your thoughts and feelings. This may include specific problems like anxiety and depression or could be something more general that is harder to put into words. Whatever the issue, we would work together and at your own pace, to improve things in your life.
As an integrative therapist, I draw upon a range of knowledge in psychodynamic, person-centred and existential theories to help with the unique difficulties you may be experiencing.
My background:
I work in private practice, but previously was involved in various projects such as coordinating a counselling service at a local charity and tutoring student counsellors to develop their therapeutic skills on a professional training course.
Before my work as an integrative therapist and counsellor, I had a career as a mental health nurse in the NHS. This involved providing high quality care to people suffering from severe and intense mental distress both in hospital and in the community.
Practice description
The sessions:
I offer face-to-face therapy sessions that last 50 minutes and take place on a regular basis at the same time each week. I work from a comfortable room in my private practice on Wetherby High Street.
My first session
The first session can often be a daunting experience as you may be unsure what to expect. I see the first session as simply an opportunity for us to meet and I will aim to put you at ease throughout the session.
You can tell me as little or a much about yourself as you wish and I can explain more about how I work as a counsellor, answering any questions you may have.
At the end of the session, you can then decide if you would like to meet with me again or we can look at what other support or therapies may suit you better if working with me doesn't feel right.
