About me and my therapy practice
I offer a warm welcome, a listening presence as you direct the sessions, to explore your present concerns on the backdrop of your past. I will often reflect and summarise what you have shared, offer occasional interpretation and challenge, all with your very best interests at heart. Should I see a benefit, I may offer thought or behavioural exercises, psycho-education or a creative intervention to support your growing awareness and movement towards your chosen outcome.
I very much believe that what needs to be said, will be said in the session and therefore encourage you to choose what seems most important to talk about each week.
As we tend not to bring what is happy, what is easy to counselling, it is worth bearing in mind that the journey can be difficult and upsetting but it is worth persevering to grow in self-awareness, the starting place of change.
Practice description
I offer face to face and video counselling.
If face to face is your preference we can meet in my counselling room in central Princes Risborough, Bucks. I access video counselling via the secure Zoom platform.
I am happy to have an initial chat on the telephone, during which I can find out more about you, assess risk, ascertain if I have the skills to support you, while you can ask any questions of me and the counselling I provide. Should we both feel satisfied we are a ‘good fit' we can then plan for a mutually convenient initial session.
I offer short and long term work, as well as single session therapy. Single session therapy is a focused time on one particular concern, looking at resources available to you and creating a plan to manage/change the situation.
My first session
At present I offer a reduced rate initial assessment session. During this time we can chat through the counselling agreement, privacy statement and wellbeing questionnaire.
We will then go on to explore some initial background questions that can give me a more holistic picture of you, and you can share what has brought you to counselling and what would be helpful for you.
The first session is a little different in that, as we chat I will make notes, during subsequent sessions a short factual record is made following the session.
