About me and my therapy practice
Hello! I'm here to tell you that things can be better than this - there is a reason you're feeling the way you do, and I can help you understand why and identify what needs to change. With over eight years of experience working as a counsellor and psychotherapist, I specialise in helping people heal from past trauma, relationships and low self-esteem that commonly lead to feelings of anxiety and depression.
Qualified to masters level (level 7), I'm fully accredited, meeting the BACP’s 'higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner', and work as a Band 7 Senior Counsellor for the NHS. I work integratively, with a combination of Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Gestalt and Polyvagal theories.
I’ll help you identify unconscious patterns and beliefs that keep you feeling this way and encourage you to make contact with emotion to help you process and make positive change. We will look towards your past to understand what has influenced you to feel the way you do. My practice utilises techniques to regulate the nervous system, helping us manage intense or distressing feelings that may be holding you back.
The therapy I deliver helps tackle some of the pressures that we can experience in our society today; the apparent disparity between how we are and how we think we should be, the struggle to find meaning, the feeling of never being 'good enough'. I'd like to help you feel more ‘you’, to guide you towards a more authentic way of living.
Whether the problem feels chaotic, immediate, and taking up all your space, or if it's that sense of losing your mojo and feeling 'not quite right', sessions with me can help bring order, clarity and act as an anchor to hold on to when delving deeper. Please check out my website for further information on the way I deliver therapy: www.davinapsychotherapy.com.
Practice description
Couples
I also work with couples who are in a committed relationship, where one or both partners experience low mood, anxiety, or other kinds of distress, and recognise that the quality of the relationship is impacted. Emotional difficulties can naturally affect how satisfied we feel with our partners and vice versa. I offer a space to work with these relational dynamics to help both partners feel happier and more satisfied both as individuals and within the relationship. This type of therapy involves thinking about how each partner’s histories become woven into the current relationship, exploring communication styles, conflict patterns and intimacy.
My fees for couples sessions are £110 per session
