About me and my therapy practice
I have gained a MSc in Integrative Counselling with Distinction (which means I can use a variety of approaches and can tailor my approach to meet my clients needs). I am able to support clients to address a very wide variety of mental health needs. However, if you are still unsure if I can help you, then please get in contact for an informal and friendly discussion.I know that accessing therapy can be very daunting at first, and it is therefore vitally important for me to create a very warm, friendly, accepting, safe environment. However, all of my clients can expect the highest standards of professional care and ethical practice. I am constantly training and researching to ensure that I am aware of the most current and best therapeutic approaches, that have a solid scientific evidence base to indicate their effectiveness. I will tailor my approach to ensure I carefully address the issues clients bring to sessions and will strive to give each client the greatest opportunity to resolve any difficulties they bring. I have a strong problem solution approach and I work in close collaboration with the client to identify the therapy goals and to agree a plan of action to effectively address their difficulties. I encourage openness and honesty and we will review progress and will make any necessary changes to ensure maximum benefit from our time together.
Practice description
What really motivates me as a therapist is supporting clients to finally become free from the issues negatively impacting on their lives (and which may have possibly been negatively impacting for many years) and supporting them to reach their true potential. A commitment to enabling the clients’ growth, development and change underpins my work. Although it can be challenging, engaging in therapy can be a very powerful and a hugely beneficial process for creating the necessary changes which can help clients arrive at a place of much greater depth of happiness, fulfilment, well-being and increased quality of life. I aim to create relationships which places the client at the centre of the process and ensuring the client feels safe, respected and actively involved in deciding the direction of the therapy.
I genuinely welcome questions before clients decide to book any sessions with me. Please feel free to contact me, you will be assured of a warm and friendly response.
My first session
The first session is to begin to establish a warm and safe working relationship. Also, to undertake a detailed account of the issues impacting on the client from the past, the present or about the future. It is during this initial session that the client and therapist decide if we are a good fit, want to move forward and if the therapist feels competent to meet their clients needs adequately. We mutually agree the priorities and focus of the work.

I have gained a MSc in Integrative Counselling (with Distinction) and I am a qualified EMDR Therapist.
I have gained certification in Advanced Clinical Supervision - able to ethically and officially work with clients in person or online/via other technological methods.
I am experienced in working with clients from a wide cross section of the population and with a very wide range of mental health issues.
I work full-time with adults in my own Private Practice: Monday to Friday. I work both the morning and in the evening..
I can work with supervisees face-to-face or online.
My office is conveniently located and offers a warm, safe and welcoming and professional environment.
About me and my therapy practice
I sincerely believe that quality supervision can help facilitate the growth, development, confidence, skills, etc, within therapists and therefore, ultimately impact the quality of professional practice we can offer clients.
I fully recognise that each supervisee will have their own starting point; some may be new and very inexperienced and others may be vastly experienced and established. Therefore, it is important that I tailor my approach, support, expectations, etc to each individual supervisee; to be able to work flexibly and appropriately and to be able to support each individual in the exciting process of the enhancement of their confidence, skills, knowledge and quality of practice. It is a highly privileged and responsible role and supervisees deserve to be offered a positive and professional experience.
Central to a positive supervision experience is the relationship between supervisor and supervisee. Therefore, I strive to build a warm, supportive, encouraging, safe, respectful, yet professional relationship; working together with the aim to provide clients with as positive experience as is possible. Our work has the potential to transform peoples lives. Therefore, that investment in our own progression is so important.
Our work can be incredibly rewarding and hugely beneficial, however, I am also very aware that it can also be demanding, stressful, scary, daunting, exhausting, confusing, etc, and I aim to create a safe working relationship that supervisees feel able to explore and express any aspect of their practice, but knowing that this will be treated with understanding, empathy and support. There is no such thing as the 'perfect' or 'complete' therapist. Therefore, I would want all my supervisees to embrace supervision as an opportunity and authentically experience its value within a continuous improvement context - and not dreaded, seen as an inconvenient or as a membership requirement chore to be endured, etc.
Practice description
The supervision model primarily (but not exclusively used) is the ‘Seven Mode Model' - which allows all aspects of the client, therapist, supervisor and working context to be explored and potentially enhanced.
I fully recognise that supervisees may have varying feelings and experiences regarding supervision. I aim to create a trusting and open relationship and any challenges, difficulties, blocks, etc concerning the experience of the supervision itself, can be mutually, professionally and positively expressed and addressed. I would want to the supervisee to gain as much as possible from our time spent together.
My first session
I intend that all my supervisees can be assured of a friendly, warm, welcoming and professional experience! The first session will primarily be focused on establishing the foundations for the relationship; getting to know each others backgrounds/experiences; context of work, client groups, etc. In addition, the content of the Supervision Agreement will be explored, discussed and if necessary any questions or points of clarity conveyed or confusion positively addressed.
It is will be useful for the supervisee to be given knowledge of my supervision approach and secure any clarity regarding this and to discuss and agree expectations and and practical or personal issues that may need to be considered to assist the supervision process.
If we both agree we are a good match, then we can then discuss the practicalities to ensure that expectations and needs can be met.
