About me and my therapy practice

Welcome.

I am a psychotherapist and counsellor who provides a safe and confidential space for clients of all backgrounds. In sessions I hope to support you explore how the different life experiences you bring, may be impacting your thoughts, feelings and relationships.

Many of us find it difficult to talk with family or friends and can begin to feel alone with how our experiences are impacting us. I can provide a non-judgemental space to support you make sense of your feelings, and at your pace, begin your journey to creating the change you hope for in life.

Having worked with clients in private practice, the NHS and in voluntary organisations, I understand it may be hard to reach out or understand how simply talking to a professional can be helpful. This can be particularly difficult if you have never experienced therapy before.

I want to assure you that this step your are considering in talking to someone who has been trained to listen, respond in a certain way and provide you with a containing experience, can be profoundly helpful. If you are feeling stressed, anxious or are worried about your mood, then talking about how this is impacting you, can hopefully begin to bring resolution and clarity.

I also work with young people, from the age of 16. If you are a parent/carer hoping to find support for your child, please contact me and I would be happy to discuss further.

Practice description

As an Integrative therapist, I work sensitively with what you bring and the way in which you prefer to work. I have studied a number of disciplines throughout my training, such as psychodynamic, CBT, humanist and existential-phenomenological therapies, which will all influence the way in which we work together. Although my practice is predominantly talking therapy, I also encompass creative ways to support you in processing difficult emotions.

I am based in Gerrards Cross and offer 50 minute sessions for clients aged 16 and above. I offer both in-person and online, remote sessions.

Parking is available for clients who prefer to meet in-person.

My first session

I initially offer a brief telephone conversation and if we are both happy to meet, can agree a time to have our first meeting.

During the initial meeting, we can begin to explore what has brought you to therapy and anything else you feel is helpful to share. You will have the opportunity to get a sense of me and how we can work together through the therapeutic relationship. We can then decide whether working together will be useful for you.

Throughout therapy, I encourage reviews of our work together, to ensure our work remains relevant and useful to you.

About me and my therapy practice

Supervision is an essential aspect of modern mental health care and supports mental health practitioners in providing high quality clinical practice through their development.

I view supervision as a vehicle for learning through a process of professional support. My supervision sessions are aimed at enabling you to develop knowledge and competence, assume responsibility for your own practice and enhance ethical practice for your clients as well as their safety within complex situations. As your supervisor, I will encourage you to self-assess, as well as develop your analytical and reflective skills.

For me, supervision is a relationship-based education that takes place through a triadic system between the supervisor, supervisee and at the very core, the client you choose to bring. As your supervisor, I will provide a safe and containing space to enable reflection and I will facilitate a positive and productive supervisory relationship. I will contract with you to promote and model ethical boundaries, individualise your learning methods and provide, as well as encourage, feedback for effective supervision to take place.

Practice description

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Clinical Supervision and a Master of Arts (MA) in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling.

I have trained in humanistic, existential-phenomenological, psychodynamic and integrative theories and am also experienced in cognitive behavioural therapy. I hold experience working clinically with adults, children and adolescents, providing both short and long term therapy.

Knowledge of supervision models is considered fundamental to ethical supervision practice (Corey et al 2014). I draw on both integrative developmental models of supervision and models which are orientation specific, such as CBT. The models I draw on are dependant on my supervisee’s practice and objectives for supervision.

Through my supervision training, I have demonstrated effective supervision by meeting competencies that are now, most recently, expected from supervisors. I also regularly use supervision instruments to measure and evaluate competencies within my own supervisory practice in commitment of my own ongoing development as a supervisor.

Overall, I believe in working together through the supervisory relationship to enhance your professional practice, whilst encouraging and modelling honesty and openness as part of your developmental journey.

Please feel free to contact me for any further information.
