About me and my therapy practice

I am a passionate integrative humanistic therapist, who works with individuals, couples and groups.

I’m passionate about working with people who feel different for whatever reason. I provide a safe space where you can feel completely accepted for who you are without any judgement. I offer short and long term therapy and I work at a pace that best suits you.

The areas I am most passionate about are:

ADHD - rejection sensitivity dysphoria, emotional regulation, Autism – Sensory overload / shutdown / meltdowns, emotional regulation, LGBTQ community, Domestic Abuse, Narcissistic abuse, Abuse, Trauma, Relationship difficulties, Bereavement, Suicidal ideation, The impact of suicide on the people left behind, Crisis intervention, Burnout and recovery, Mental health conditions, Neuropsychology.

I work using an integrative approach looking at neurodevelopmental conditions, our internal dialogue how we speak to ourselves and then look at how we can learn to be kinder to ourselves using dialectical behaviour therapy. (Changing how we talk to ourselves taking into account tone and language). I’m also undertaking an attachment theory diploma at present as I believe who we are and why we are the way we are lies in the attachment with our care givers, our life experiences throughout our life and our brain development.

Therapy can help you resolve complicated thoughts and feelings or find ways to help you live with them. It can help you recognise unhelpful patterns in the way that you think or act and find ways to change, if this is what you want. It can also help you explore and find the root causes of long-standing difficulties.

People often look to access therapy when they have experienced difficult life events such as loss, Relationship problems, communication difficulties, upsetting or Traumatic experiences. Experiencing difficult emotions, such as grief, guilt, sadness, confusion, anger, shame. Mental health conditions or long term physical health problems.

Practice description

Initially you can request a free 30 minutes free consultation via telephone or video link (Zoom) to meet to see if you feel you can work with me and for you to share with me your reasons for accessing therapy and what you would like to gain from the sessions.

If you decide you would like to continue working together we would then look to book your first counselling session.

Session fees can be paid in cash in session or via bank transfer.

When you arrive in person for a session at The Therapy Rooms in Wakefield. You would arrive at your appointment time at the external blue front door and I would come and collect you from there at your appointment time.

If you chose to have therapy via telephone I would call you at your appointment time. If you require therapy via video link (Zoom) I would send you a zoom link before the session which you would connect to. I would then enter and then let you into the session at your appointment time.
