About me and my therapy practice
All my work in Gloucestershire is online and if that will work for you we can do either video, telephone or email sessions.
I help people (adults, young people, couples, families) sort out the issues that are causing them difficulty. These may include relationship difficulties, anger management, trauma, disability and pain management, employment issues and stress management. I use my skills and experience as a therapist to help find a solution that helps resolve the difficulty.
I bring over 30 years experience of providing high quality therapy services. I am a fully trained adult, family and couples therapist. I am accredited and registered with both BACP & UKCP. I have training to masters level in Psychology and still hold chartered Psychologist Status in Ireland.
In my career to date, I have set up counselling services, managed government counselling services and worked as a trauma therapist for adults who experienced sexual abuse. I also worked as a therapist and manager in disability services. Since moving to the UK I have worked as a therapist in a hospice, as a therapist in the NHS and as a therapist in sexual trauma centre. I also provide supervision to volunteers in a bereavement service.
If we work together, I will work to assist you to find solutions/understandings to the problems that brought you to therapy. Our work together would be focused on allowing you to develop understandings, skills and solutions that help you move forward with your life in the way you want to. Because I have extensive training in different modalities I am able to work in a way that best fits with you and your needs.
Practice description
I offer short term and medium term work. The first session is an assessment in which you identify what you would like to achieve. We also agree how we are going to work together. Progress is reviewed on a regular basis and typically initial contracts are for up to 12 sessions but can be shorter or longer depending on what the issue is.
Our work together is always focused and tailored to what best suits you. If required we can also move from individual sessions to family sessions.
Over the years I have built up a specialism in chronic health conditions and chronic pain. I have in the past worked closely with a pain consultant.

In the first session you will give me a description of what you want to get out of therapy. We will then together draw up an agreed treatment plan

Practice description
My overriding theoretical model is one of curiosity and client empowerment. Ethics is an area of acute interest. I trained in systemic family therapy, an approach that helps me focus not only on the individual but their wider context. I also went to Australia to train in Narrative Therapy with Michael White. An experience that influenced my practice more than any other training. Currently I am interested solution focused work and Pluralistic practice.
I trained in the seven eyed model of supervision with CSTD as I really liked the cross discipline approach. holding curiosity at the centre of the work is something really important to me.
