About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am an accredited therapist who provides confidential counselling to adult individuals over the age of 18. BACP accreditation recognises the achievement of knowledge, experience and development in psychotherapy. To achieve accreditation you must complete a rigorous application and assessment process.
I offer a warm, compassionate environment in which we can explore and understand the challenges that you are facing.
I believe passionately in the power of therapy and feel that every individual should have the opportunity, time and space to talk openly without the fear of judgement. I believe that the relationship between client and counsellor is vitally important. Our relationship will be built on trust and respect. I welcome people from all faiths, backgrounds, cultures and LGBTQ communities with a non-judgmental approach.
I undertake regular training and attend monthly supervision to enhance my practice and comply with BACP requirements.
Within my work I have helped people who have been struggling with anxiety, relationship difficulties, depression, anger and bereavement.
I have previously worked for a counselling charity based in Manchester where I saw adult individuals on a weekly basis. I have also worked within an NHS setting offering bereavement counselling; this included bereavement resulting from sudden death and long term illness.
I have also worked in an educational setting for twenty five years. Therefore, I have unique understanding of the challenges faced by young people today. I also recognise the demands placed on those working within the teaching profession and the educational sector.
Practice description
I have a thriving counselling practice in Didsbury village which has been established for 4 years and continues to go from strength to strength. I have now provided over 1500 counselling sessions for adult individuals. My practice has an excellent location for local transport links.
After an initial meeting, if we are happy to work together I will ask you to sign a contract which details what you can expect from me and what I would expect from you in return.
I initially suggest a block of 8 weekly sessions in order to give us time to make progress. Each session lasts 50 minutes. However, every client and their situation is unique so this is just a guide. We can decide together how we would like the sessions to develop and the time needed. As our sessions continue, we will regularly review and discuss how you are feeling about your counselling.
My first session
The initial online meeting is free of charge and lasts approximately 30 minutes.
This meeting is our opportunity to decide if we can work together. The relationship between you and me is vitally important and we need to feel comfortable together.
In this session, I will collect some information about what brings you to counselling and explain what kind of therapy I offer. It also gives you a chance to ask any questions that you may have.
