Practice description

Couples therapy, also known as marriage counseling or relationship therapy, is a form of psychotherapy that helps couples address challenges in their relationship. It provides a supportive environment where both partners can communicate openly, explore their feelings, and work through conflicts in a healthy and constructive way.

During couples therapy, I aim to  help both individuals gain insight into their relationship dynamics, uncover patterns of behavior, and identify underlying issues that may be contributing to struggles such as communication problems, trust issues, emotional distance, or conflict. I  guide the conversation, ensuring that both partners feel heard and understood while encouraging respectful dialogue and empathy.

The goals of couples therapy can vary depending on the couple's needs, but they typically include:

Improving communication and active listening skills.

Rebuilding trust and repairing emotional bonds.

Resolving conflicts in a more productive way.

Strengthening intimacy and emotional connection.

Navigating life transitions (e.g., marriage, parenthood, relocation) or stressors.

Couples therapy isn’t just for those experiencing major problems; many couples seek therapy to prevent future issues or to enhance their relationship and deepen their connection. Therapy offers tools, strategies, and insights to create a stronger, more fulfilling partnership, fostering mutual understanding and lasting happiness.

Through therapy, couples can develop healthier habits, build resilience, and create a lasting foundation for their relationship.

My first session

Each partner will have the chance to express their perspective on the issues they are facing in the relationship. I will listen closely, asking open-ended questions to help both partners articulate their feelings and understand the dynamics at play. I will also ask about the couple’s history, key events that may have influenced their relationship, and how they typically handle conflict.

I aim also help identify patterns of communication or behaviors that might be contributing to stress or disconnection, but the focus will not be on blame. Instead, it’s about fostering understanding and empathy for each other’s feelings and needs. The goal is to build a foundation of trust and openness.

Overall, the first session is about laying the groundwork for positive change, fostering mutual respect, and creating a space for healing and growth in the relationship.
