About me and my therapy practice
How are you?
Think again, how are you really?
In life, we often ignore how we actually feel and just “get on” with it. Quite often the parts of us that we ignore can impact our lives on a daily basis without us really noticing it, causing problems and issues that seem confusing. Does this sound like you?
Or you may know exactly what the issues are but feel like you don’t know how to sort them out or where to start. I can help.
Each of us can feel this way at any point in our lives and we may find dealing with life's challenges alone overwhelming. When talking to friends or family, however close, isn't enough, talking to a qualified counsellor can help.
My name is Julie, and I am a professional counsellor with years of experience in helping clients discover their hidden potential, empowering them to change and grow.
I often work with parts of self, reflecting on the internal struggle of these parts which often keeps us stuck. I gently challenge you to reflect on what is going on and how you might want things to be. Through our work together I aim to support you in discovering shifts in perspectives, enabling a sense of new possibilities and well-being.
No matter the reason for seeking therapy, I know from experience, that finding the right counsellor for you can seem daunting.
I offer a safe, compassionate, confidential, and non-judgemental space in which to gently explore and process difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is at the heart of successful therapy, and this is at the core of how I work.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework.
My fees are £50 per 50-minute session for daytime sessions before 5pm and £55 per session for evening sessions. Sessions are on a weekly basis.
07787 556402 - please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Practice description
I create a supportive, caring environment in which I will help you to become more self-aware, empowering you to make changes in your life for your own personal growth.
Through our work together I aim to support you in discovering shifts in perspectives, enabling a sense of new possibilities and well-being. This will help to find a new way forward to feeling more comfortable, less anxious and more connected to yourself and those around you. You will gain greater understanding of yourself, making sense of thoughts and feelings and how they may impact you and your behaviour.
My aim is to help you feel more YOU! Whatever that might look like.
I am based in Kintbury, working from a lovely therapy room in my garden surrounded by beautiful countryside.
There is plenty of parking space.
My first session
When you first contact me, I usually encourage an initial telephone conversation to discuss your needs and to set up an initial session. I send all relevant documents via email which allows more time for us to connect in that first session.
Having your very first counselling session can feel daunting.
Here is an overview of what to expect when you come for your very first session.
In our initial session together, we will explore your needs and you will get a feel of how I work. Having already sent the contract to you via email I will briefly go through the contract. I will then take some initial contact details from you and then we will explore what you want to focus on in therapy. You may not know exactly what that is initially, that is ok, we can contract to explore that. We will also discuss your expectations of therapy and any other worries that you may have in coming to therapy.
If, after the initial session, you feel comfortable working with me, we can then set up a regular slot for therapy. There is no obligation to do this. It is important you find the right counsellor for you.
Initially, we would work together for six weeks. This is a really important time where we are building the therapeutic relationship. I will check in to see how this is working for you. I work in an open-ended way which means you are in charge of the length of time we work together, and I will continue to check in to see how therapy is working for you.
Currently I am working face to face but still offer zoom sessions and also a mixture of the two if required.
What I can help with
Addictions, Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Loss, Personal development, Relationships, Self esteem, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma
