About me and my therapy practice

It can really help to talk to a friend or a family member when you feel anxious or depressed but sometimes it’s not enough and the feelings persist or you feel like you’re going round in circles.

You might notice, for example, that you spend a lot of emotional energy on suppressing feelings of anger or pain in order to keep others happy - but this just leaves you feeling flat and depressed. Or you have made a decision to ‘go it alone’ in life, whilst yearning for meaningful relationships. You may spend life on ‘auto-pilot’, never connecting with your real feelings or you may have problems managing emotions and be labelled by others as ‘over-sensitive’ or ‘too much.’

All of these experiences affect our well-being and sense of self-worth and can lead to feelings of depression and anxiety. The therapeutic relationship offers a different kind of support, in which you can begin to learn more about yourself and your way of being in the world. As you discover more, you will gain more insight into what drives certain behaviours or feelings or what keeps you stuck, enabling you to find new ways to move forward.

When our inner and outer worlds are more aligned, we have access to our most authentic Self.

Practice description

Through the therapeutic relationship, I can offer you a warm, welcoming and non-judgemental space in which you can begin to explore the areas of your life which may be causing you discomfort or suffering.

Using my personal qualities, experiences, theories and interventions from a range of psychotherapeutic approaches, you can be truly heard as you begin to explore the difficult or challenging experiences impacting on your wellbeing, such as past or recent trauma, bereavement, anxiety or depression.

I respect that you are the expert on your life, feelings and experiences and will not direct you or tell you what to do; but rather, will guide you as the process unfolds.

I use a relational approach in my work, which is rooted in my training in Integrative Psychotherapy, Wild Therapy and my interests in myth, story and the cycles and rhythms of our bodies and the earth.

I work in an intuitive, embodied way, meaning that for me, I see the mind-body-spirit as part of the complex web of consciousness in the human, non-human and more-than human world.

Our work may be in the safe, warm space of the therapy room, or we could take it outdoors and allow nature and the elements to support your process of self-discovery and healing.

My first session

Our first session is a chance to get to know each other a little bit. An opportunity for you to ask me questions and to tell me more about what is bringing you to therapy. Through our discussion we can begin to get a clearer idea about whether we are a good 'fit' for working together and how we want to take things forward.
