About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Cara :)
I am a person-centred counsellor with 6 years post qualification experience, I am also accredited with the BACP. I am currently studying Ecotherapy and work as an outdoor counsellor as well as working indoors and remotely.
I have a lot of experience working with depression, anxiety, burnout, relationship issues, self esteem issues and stress. If you'd like to see if we are a good fit, I offer a free up to 20 minute session for a chat. The relationship between counsellor and client is as important as the modality.
I love to see clients change, grow and achieve their goals even when they can't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I also enjoy creative work with clients (if they chose to), clients can use paint, clay, emotion cards and collage making and an empowering way of expressing themselves and figuring things out.
I am also trained in Rewind Technique for single event PTSD and phobias. In addition to this, I use guided imagery for relaxation.
I attend lots of continual professional development each year and love learning new information and skills relating to counselling and mental wellbeing.
Practice description
I offer the options of working remotely: by telephone or online.
Working indoors: in a room in Newton-le-willows on the first floor (there is not lift). I can support people with visual impairments to find my premises.
Working outdoors: In Newton-le-willows, I have a risk assessment and some frequently asked questions if you'd like to hear more about this.
My first session
I offer a free 20 min chat about sessions etc and to see if we are a good fit.
My sessions are 60 minutes. In the first session we would discuss confidentiality, boundaries and safety. Then we would discuss goals for counselling and what you'd like to get from your sessions. You might have a number of sessions in mind or you might want to go with the flow? The first session helps us look at different options.
