About me and my therapy practice

My name is Lisa and I am an experienced Integrative Psychotherapist. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) with expertise in working with adults, adolescents, parents and young children. I also have experience of working with Looked After Children.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy, compassion, and collaboration. I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth and change, and I work with my clients to help them identify and overcome the obstacles that are preventing them from reaching their full potential.

Largely, my experience has been working with complex transgenerational trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACE). Enfolded within this, I have worked with ADHD, anxiety states, Autism, Bi-polar Disorder, Clinical Depression, Drug and Alcohol Dependency,  Gender, OCD, Personality Disorder, physical health conditions, schizoid states, Sexuality, Somatic Disorders, and issues around ethnocultural experience and self-esteem.

I am a culturally astute practitioner working with a range of therapeutic modalities, making use of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and Somatic Therapy in support of a Psychodynamic approach.

If you are struggling, I am here to help. Please don't hesitate to get in touch to schedule an initial consultation.

Practice description

I offer a safe and confidential space for adults, young people and family's.

I can help address a range of difficult issues:

Depression , anxiety, low self esteem, bereavement, divorce, childhood abuse, transgenerational trauma and many more.

In my practice I am passionate about incorporating Somatic tools, which is a mind and body approach with clients. Somatic therapy is a bottom up approach complementing  talk therapy, which is a top down.

Somatic tools can help regulate the body and the nervous system while exploring difficult feelings using breathing techniques and various other tools which will be explained in the session.  The somatic approach makes use of polyvagal theory which helps us understand the body's stresses and trigger's and how to manage difficult feelings and process them. What I find helpful is these are tools that can be used in-between sessions.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity to meet.

We can begin to understand what brought you to counselling, discuss how the process works, answer any questions you may have and see if we are a good fit for each other.

After the consultation, if we decide to work together, each session is 50 minutes long & will be held remotely or in person.

In the first full session we will discuss the Therapeutic contract and we will begin to explore your story, your experiences and relationships and how you see the world.
