About me and my therapy practice
Looking for someone who can help you explore issues dominating your life in a non-judgemental and genuine manner? I support clients in making positive changes, building resilience and achieving personal growth. Going to counselling can be daunting: I hope to offer clients a place of safety and compassion, and a therapeutic relationship instilled with warmth, energy and humour.
Particular interests:
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, bereavement, trauma, relationship issues, infertility issues, work-related issues, family conflict, parenting, abuse, cultural issues (expats and returning expats), boarding school survivors, self-esteem, emotional unavailability, men’s issues, women’s issues, life-coaching and personal development. I’ve worked with clients from all walks of life and life stages from students, to stay-at-home parents, to senior managers. I’ve also had a corporate career, worked as a language teacher, held volunteering roles, and raised a family: all of which help me understand my clients.
I‘m British but have lived in six countries across four continents. I grew up speaking English at home and French outside the home. I’m therefore particularly interested in cultural issues, and the difficulties of living outside one’s home country. I speak French and Spanish.
As part of my training, I worked with individuals and couples experiencing relationship, family and professional issues; couples undergoing fertility treatment; and students and teenagers with unplanned pregnancies.
Practice description
I tailor my approach to each client’s needs. I’m a person-centred and integrative counsellor meaning I believe you have the skills to overcome the challenges you’re facing and I draw on multiple therapeutic approaches to help you tap into these and flourish.
I work with individuals aged 18 and above. I work both face-to-face and online (I have training in this area). I also offer ‘Walk and Talk Therapy’ on Clapham or Wandsworth Common if you like being in nature.
I offer a free, 10 minute, phone or Zoom chat before you commit to a face-to-face or online appointment.
I have therapy rooms at the Clapham Therapy Rooms, Battersea Rise, SW11.
I offer both long and short-term therapy. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Emotion Freedom Technique (“tapping”), Person-Centred Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Solutions-Focused Therapy. I also use my Gottman Method Couples Therapy training to help individuals strengthen their relationships.
My first session
I offer a free, 10 minute, phone or Zoom chat before you commit to a face-to-face or online appointment.
Your first session is an opportunity for you to share, in a safe, non-judgemental setting, whatever issues are dominating your life. Together, we'll prioritise the areas you'd like to focus on and agree your goals for therapy.
This first session is also important as it is the first time we will meet each other. It's important that we both feel comfortable working with each other as this will form the foundation of a rewarding and constructive therapeutic relationship.
