About me and my therapy practice
My core training and approach as a counsellor is Person Centred. Our counselling relationship will be one of equal balance. You will experience a safe space which is open, empathic and accepting, where you lead the journey.
I believe that no-one understands your world and experience better than you do. With respectful curiosity, I will listen and share with you my understanding whilst working towards understanding your world the best I can, from your perspective.
You're in control of where the journey takes us and what you would like to explore as it unfolds. I will not direct you but I will help you focus on any areas you chose to bring.
Through the development of trust in our relationship and with a growing insight of your experience, I endeavour to be fully present, to walk alongside you as we explore together, your world, as you see and experience it, inviting new discoveries and insights, at your pace.
I would describe myself as kind, respectful and empathic, deep, reflective and intuitive, all of which are qualities that assist me in my role and in my effectivity as a Counsellor.
As a person I am led by my moral compass which sits closely in line with my professional, moral and ethical compass. This closeness I feel, brings a natural transparency, authenticity and realness to my way of being as a Counsellor.
Practice description
I currently work with both adults and young people (11+) in my Private Practice and with young people in a Secondary School setting.
I am able to offer both online sessions and face to face sessions (subject to room availability).
Face to Face sessions are held in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. Online sessions are usually held on 'Whereby', alternate platforms we can meet on are, for example: Zoom, Skype or whatsapp video.
Sessions are 50 minutes long. I offer both short-term and long-term work around your requirement and need. Usually we would meet weekly and where possible, at the same day and time.
My fees are £45 for face to face sessions, £40 for online sessions
** I offer reduced fees for Counsellors in Training of £40 for face to face sessions, £35 for online sessions
My first session
A first session begins from the moment we meet 'in the room', whether that be in person or virtually. We will explore collaboratively whilst working towards establishing a working agreement, boundaries of the counselling relationship and limits of confidentiality.
I will share with you more about how I work and you can share more with me, for instance, what brings you to counselling, what you would like to work on and how you'd like to use our time together.
I will answer any questions that you may have along the way which in turn will help to build a clearer picture and understanding of what to expect if we were to continue working together.
If we were to discover that the support you require is beyond my level of training or experience we would then explore options such as onward referral or signposting with the focus always being to find the right support for you.
This initial session may give you a sense of whether you feel we are a 'good fit' and if you would like to meet again. There is no obligation for you to continue.
