About me and my therapy practice
It is an honour to call myself a Psychotherapist/Counsellor. A work title I gained having been trained with evidenced based knowledge of therapeutic interventions for mental well-being. I provide counselling services for varying client's presenting issues, specialising in working with young adults, early adulthood, and with people experiencing anxiety, depression and work/family related issues.
Through the Person Centred framework, I have accrued knowledge to work collaboratively and take joint responsibility for my client's journey to self/discovery. Using narratives within my practice, I invite my clients to use therapy as they wish by encouraging and using subtle exploratory skills to navigate through ongoing issues, introduce coping mechanisms, and normalise their experiences by actively promoting recovery and well being. I do have a strong sense of awareness, and one of my strong points is seeing things from where my client is.
Practice description
We all find ourselves struggling to focus and function at a desired level, we name it as anything including pressure; but sometimes this is a call to improve our sense of wellness. I work with my clients to identify and explore ways to resolve pressure crisis and support them to alleviate feelings of distress or depression that can stem from these.
My experience has granted me opportunities to work with clients dealing with mental health issues, and I can say my compassion for caring services comes from my conditioning as an empathetic person. I am committed to my client's well-being and I believe I am a reflective practitioner who always seek for greater knowledge to make my practice better everyday.
I currently work online offering telephone counselling (STC) and e-therapy via Zoom video platform. I can always discuss face to face sessions with client depending on proximity.
My first session
First sessions are always introductory with a lot of background information coming from both ends. I however like to let my clients give me an idea of what their expectations are or what presenting issues they have so we can manage those expectations ethically. This is usually a quick 10 minutes call I will put through to you (consented) before the first session on an agreed date. On occasions when clients' needs are not within my theoretical capacity, I will advise and signpost clients to appropriate services or colleagues.
